Another awesome but cold windy day in Hendersonville, North Carolina with Operation BBQ Relief. Since the beginning of this effort this location has pushed out 163,700 meals. The organizations 5 sites combined have provided 409,283 meals to those affected Helene and now Milton. I’m happy I got the opportunity to do this. My heart needed it. Two more days, so many wonderful volunteers, a precious community, this is grace at work.
Pray for these people. The community is strong, they are tired and still have many obstacles in front of them. Happy to be part of a group that lifts them over one. The strength of that lift speaks for itself.
My pics above are random as I have been assigned the camp cook position to prep meals for our staff. This morning was bacon egg and cheese sandwich, grits and ham egg and cheese. Lunch I ran our leftover smoked turkey, stuffing mashed potatoes gravy cranberry sauce burrito, southern style green beans and a salad for approx 50-60 volunteers.
The community always gets a smoked bbq’d protien, a vegetable, fruit and bread. Red Cross Volunteers distribute the bulk to outlying areas some as far as 2 hrs away, I’ve met units from California, Iowa, Ohio, New York all over. Really something to experience.
Yall take care.
