We let All The Things out to roam the yard with the rest of the flock today! Thing 1 didn’t pay any attention to the babies. Amazing!! She went after Thing 2 a couple times to reassert her dominance since they’ve been separated for 4 months, but it went way better than we expected! Thing 2 is still pretty protective of the babies but only towards men. He would turn the other way when he seen me. The babies gained some confidence and had zoomies, then started chasing after one of the roosters. Very entertaining day, for sure!

Asking for feed donations

I really hate to ask for help. In the 5 years we’ve been doing this homestead thing, we’ve only had to ask for help with feed one other time, 2 years ago. It was later thrown in our face how we can’t afford to take care of our animals by the very people that helped us, Instead of having sympathy and understanding that people go through hard times. I told myself I shouldn’t care what people think. If I don’t ask then I’m not doing everything I can to make sure my animals are happy and healthy!

Work has been slow. After paying all the bills and preventive maintenance for the animals this month, we were left short on our feed budget.

We have sprouts going and plenty of bugs in the field for all of our birds to free range. Atlus and Jimmy can have scraps and leftovers for the week. Phillip has plenty of weeds he can work on clearing for us and the horses have a whole bale of hay. But they all think they are starving to death if they don’t get their normal grain rations.

Update on All the Things!

7 1/2 weeks old and growing like weeds! Well, everyone besides T-7! It’s crazy how tiny it is compared to its siblings. A few more weeks and they can move to the bigger yard!!
