👏🏼 A HUGE shoutout to Ron Serafin for keeping our volunteers cool and comfortable!

Ron generously donated a massive EGO 7.5Ah battery for our portable fan — and if you’ve ever spent a day sourcing food in the summer heat, you know what a gift that really is. 🙌🏼

Every single week, no matter the weather, our volunteers are out there sourcing food for the Hive to Harvest Community Pantry. Even when temperatures are pushing 100 degrees, they load, haul, sort and keep moving so we can continue feeding and supporting our neighbors.

Thanks to Ron, that work just got a whole lot more comfortable. ❤️

It takes a community to feed a community.

We are so excited about the response to our Children’s Makers Market! We sold out once already, and we’ve opened up a few more vendor spots for anyone who can bring their own table.

We only have 2 youth vendor spots left!

One of the biggest reasons we created this market is because we want kids to get real, hands-on experience with money and business. This isn’t just about setting up a table and selling something cute. We want them to learn what it actually means to earn money, price their products, understand their costs, make a profit, save, spend wisely, and even think about reinvesting into their business.

There’s something powerful about a child being able to say, “I made this, I sold it, and I understand what I earned.”

That kind of experience can teach financial literacy in a way a worksheet never could.

Our young makers get the chance to build confidence, talk to customers, make decisions, practice responsibility, and start learning how money works in the real world.

We also have a few invitation-only spots available:

What a successful day! Our Ice Cream Social was a big hit. 🍦

We enjoyed ice cream, treated our neighbors to salted caramel iced coffees, served some of our regulars, and met a few new faces too. Altogether, we welcomed 26 guests — plus their kiddos!

Our shelves are empty, but our hearts are full. ❤️

And a HUGE thank you to our volunteers today! Days like this simply do not happen without people willing to jump in, serve, clean, scoop, pour, restock, welcome our neighbors, and help wherever they’re needed. You made today feel easy, joyful, and welcoming, and we are so grateful for every set of hands that showed up to help us love on our community. 🐝

Interested in helping us keep this going? Hive to Harvest needs to raise a minimum of $300 each week to stock our pantry. That beautiful gift comes directly from our local community — families, neighbors, and businesses who step forward and sponsor this ministry.

And sponsorship at Hive to Harvest is a little different.

Our sponsors receive a Sponsor Share in return — one of each item we source for the community pantry, usually around $200–$300 in retail value, right back to their own family. So while you’re helping fill your neighbors’ refrigerators, you’re helping stretch your own grocery budget too.

Our food is also rescued food, which means you’re playing a part in keeping perfectly good food out of the landfill and putting it where it belongs — in your refrigerator and your neighbors’ refrigerators.

And when sponsorships bring us above our $300 weekly minimum, those extra funds help us grow. They go toward purchasing much-needed equipment for our commercial kitchen or into our transit van fund, helping us build the infrastructure we need to serve even more of our community.

Feed your family. Feed your neighbor. Rescue good food. Help us grow.

We were blessed this week by our partner ministry with an incredible selection of makeup and beauty products — and I know this is going to mean so much to so many women in our community. ❤️

Makeup may not be a necessity, but it can be incredibly expensive, and when you're working hard to stretch every dollar for groceries, bills, gas, kids, and everything else a family needs, buying something just for yourself can be one of the first things to get crossed off the list.

And sometimes, getting to pick out a new lipstick, mascara, foundation, nail polish, or something that simply makes you feel good is a pretty big deal.

This week, we're hoping this donation gives some of our neighbors the chance to choose something special just for themselves — without having to take a single dollar away from their family's budget.

Because taking care of our neighbors isn't only about filling refrigerators and pantries. Sometimes it's about dignity, confidence, and getting to feel a little spoiled too. 🐝❤️

We are so grateful to our partner ministry for thinking of us and trusting Hive to Harvest to get these beautiful products into the hands of women who will truly appreciate them.

🐝 Friday Senior Hour at Hive to Harvest!

One of our favorite parts of Fridays has become seeing our neighbors from the Barrett Senior Center next door come through the pantry. ❤️

Every Friday from 12:00–1:00 PM, Hive to Harvest sets aside a special Senior Hour specifically for participants attending the Monroe County PA Area Agency on Aging programs at the Barrett Senior Center at BARC.

No pantry appointment is needed during Senior Hour.

If you're next door for Friday activities or BINGO, come see us while you're here! Our senior friends also get first pick of all the new finds we bring home from Lancaster each week, so Friday is a pretty good day to stop in and see what came home with us. 😊

We've gotten to know so many of you over the last several months, and we genuinely look forward to seeing our Friday crew.

This Senior Hour is specifically reserved for our neighbors participating in the programs next door and is separate from our regular pantry appointments.

📅 We’re also sharing the Barrett Senior Center’s August activity schedule so you can see what they have coming up.

Note: there will be no Senior Hour on Friday, August the 28th due to a change in Senior activities.

Apparently we’re already stocking for ALL the holidays🎄🦃🕎💕

This week’s pantry finds include Thanksgiving and Christmas colored sprinkles, window-cling menorahs and candles, and even Valentine’s Day heart lights for the kiddos!

And yes… we still have a couple of those Starbucks tumblers with straws hanging around too. ☕️

Pro tip: you get double member reward points if you take that rescued Starbucks cup right back to Starbucks and keep reusing it for your coffee runs 😂♻️

You really never know what’s going to show up at Hive to Harvest. That’s half the fun!
