Our milling wheat is almost ready! We have Turkey red hard wheat berries that will be available for sale the week of Labor Day at the farmers markets. Bags are over 5 pounds and cost seven dollars a bag. This is certified organic wheat that was harvested just last month right here in Crawford County. Do you prefer to buy in bulk? Just let us know much you want and we will get it around for you. We also have Emmer Wheat Berries that will be for sale later this fall after they are dehulled and ready. Feel free to message us or text Adam at 419-632-5970 to place your order and determine the best pick up time in September.

It was a good day to make some homemade deep fried hush puppies, and chicken wings! They turned out as some of the best wings and hush puppies we’ve ever had! It all starts with quality ingredients!

We have pork lard, jumbo chicken wings, and cornmeal and wheat flour for making your own hush puppies and wings. Stop by a farmers market this week and get it all!

A week ago we were able to beat the rain and get into our corn field to spread some clover seed and rye seed that will work as a cover crop to protect the soil over the harsh winter months. By the time we get corn harvested, it can be too late to get a good cover established so we did a little work and got this running with a new seeder to get the job done. The seeds have benefited from all of the rain and are emerging well under the canopy of the corn. Unfortunately the corn go too high to complete some of the acreage so we will be hiring out a drone to seed the rest. Lesson learned and we will get in sooner next year so we can do it all with our equipment. Check out the comments for a video.

Don’t forget about the Bucyrus Farmers Market today from 830am-noon in the parking lot of Family Farm and Home! Remember there are some road closures downtown for the Bratwurst festival. Come try our pork bratwurst, pork sweet Italian sausage, chicken chorizo sausage, and chicken sweet Italian sausage. They are all in bratwurst style links. We hope to see you soon!
