Incredibly talented Country music artist Dave Fenley understood the assignment!! Some of you may recognize him from his appearances on “The Voice”. We have long been fans of Dave after discovering him on YouTube. Randomly out of the blue while watching Whiskey tube I saw someone hosting a podcast with “Dave Fenley”. I clicked on the video thinking it was a coincidental person with the same name and found out it was indeed the musician that we had listened to over the years. That pleasant surprise led to a chain of IG DMs and messages with Dave as he released his own cask strength single barrel to commemorate his 1st appearance at the Grand Ole Opry. We were blessed to get to have him perform here locally at Main Street station and Tomball, TX where we went out to meet Dave in person and gift him a bottle of Heraclitus Select. While reciting the quote and reading the back of the bottle, Dave was able to finish the quotes final line “ahh but the one, one is the warrior that will bring the others back”. After our chats online he familiarized himself with the brand and the mission. Dave and I were able to share a couple of pours together and talk bourbon the way all us bourbon nerds do. I left him with a bottle and reminded him about our mission and to be sure to read the back and share it with someone who is a 9 or 1 in his life that may not be a high proof cask strength drinker the way we are. He assured me he would and that he already had some folks in mind with it being such a smooth sipper. Having been a matinee show, we parted ways so he could get rest for his evening performance and I could get back to help with our newborn baby girl.
Being originally from Texas, later that night Dave was surprised by his brother making a long trip across Texas to come see him play. Pleasantly surprised, after seeing and getting to spend time with his brother Dave messaged me a photo and a simple message,
“My brother (and retired police chief and now US Marshall) surprised me at my 2nd show. I thought you’d be OK if I forwarded this to a living hero.”
I responded with “1000%!!, absolutely!”
