We are excited to launch a spotlight featuring the members of our RCPS Healthy Community Action Team (HCAT), who are helping us “grow” our garden-based learning initiative.

To start, we would like to thank Amanda Bywaters! Amanda has two kids in RCPS. She is a regenerative farmer who supports healthy ecosystems and communities. Amanda enjoys gardening, art and exploring nature with her kids.

When asked why she was excited to be a part of the RCPS HCAT, Amanda said, “I am excited to be a part of the RCPS Healthy Community Action Team because I believe it’s incredibly empowering for kids to learn where their food comes from, work together to grow it, and experience the joy of sharing that abundance.”

Please join us in thanking Amanda for sharing her time, expertise, and passion for outdoor learning!

Interested in joining the RCPS HCAT? As a community member, parent, or RCPS staff member, your perspective matters. HCAT team members will have opportunities to provide valuable insights and share ideas, ensuring that together we make a difference in our areas of focus and enhance the well-being of all RCPS students. Team members will receive progress updates related to our VFHY grant deliverables and have opportunities to provide valuable feedback during our quarterly meetings. Email Holly at [email protected] for more details. We hope you will join our team!

"Last week, and at most every conference or event I've attended in the last 15 years, I have found myself surrounded by female movement builders. Whether they're providing technical assistance, financing, grantmaking, investing, system mapping, capital orchestration, impact assessment, policymaking, or some other vital service, women are so often designing, funding, and implementing the solutions. I'll take it a step further to say some of the most innovative regenerative farms, food hubs, processors, and mutual aid efforts are similarly women-led."
