Farm chores with the kids with a break to jump hay bales 🐖🐓🐮 They’ve been enjoying checking in on the pigs to see how much they’ve grown. We’ll have pork available to purchase in April. Let us know early if you’d like some so you can get it before it’s gone!

We recently added some pigs to our farm to be able to supply our farm store with pork products 🐷🐖

Tonight’s dinner was homemade chicken noodle soup made with our pasture-raised chicken. I used a package of the thigh/leg quarters which have the perfect flavor for soup. Reach out if you’re interested in purchasing some of our -raised, organic, antibiotic-free chicken! 🐓

Bringing in more foreign beef is not the solution to lowering beef prices. It’s the same failed policy that has hollowed out our rural communities, shrunk America’s cow herd, and given multinational corporations more control over our food supply.

The packers import beef from about 20 countries, including Argentina, and sell it beside U.S. beef with no label to tell the difference. Without mandatory country of origin labeling (MCOOL), consumers can’t choose American beef and packers have no reason to lower prices.

📞Call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask for your senators and representative. P.S. You can still call after hours and leave a voicemail!

Tell Congress to oppose any increase in beef imports from Argentina, especially while the United States still lacks MCOOL, and urge them to restore MCOOL for beef.

Put America’s cattle industry first. More imports are not the answer.

We urge President Trump to manage imports, restore MCOOL for beef, and put an end to the monopolistic control that packers and retailers have over our beef supply chain. Doing so will incentivize America’s ranchers to rebuild and expand the U.S. herd to meet our national security needs and ensure that consumer beef prices are determined by competitive market forces.

Afternoon farm chores with some much needed rain! We only have a few cows left to calve. The kids have been naming the red ones after princesses. And we have a new bull - a Red Angus.

We are once again exploring the possibility of renovating this structure on our farm into a farm stand/store. It is located right off route 21 south
of the 4-way at cripple creek and Crockett rd. We would have pasture raised organic eggs, pastured organic chicken, grass fed beef, pork, seasonal produce, and local honey. Comment and let us know if you live close by or travel by here and would be interested in something like this in the community.

Our watermelons did great this year! These are sugar babies which are an heirloom “icebox” watermelon because they’re small enough to fit in a refrigerator. They are considered an heirloom variety since it’s open-pollinated and has been saved and passed down over 60 years. 🍉

What a difference a few years can make! I grew up just five minutes down the road from this farm. After countless times driving past it, I never would have guessed that one day we would be raising a family here. Building a house and starting a farm from scratch has definitely taught me the art of being patient. Things will get done bit by bit and day by day. Yes, we still need landscaping, steps to the front porch, and the interior trim painted. To everyone who said “don’t move in until it’s finished..” you were right. But, I know these things will eventually get done. For now, I’m just happy to be here.
