When making selections to build our herd, we focus on strong proven maternal genetics and this offering has some of the strongest in the breed! XX 004 combines donors out of the Never Before and Bonita lines to create a high fertility, high carcass, with exceptional growth trait package. 004’s dam Red Doc 1034 was the high carcass lot of the 2022 Red Doc Elite sale who is sired by Trump’s Acquittal, a breed changing bull who has since been closed off. 004’s dam scanned an impressive 8.65 IMF with a 12.62 REA. XX 004 is sired by the high selling $90K Red Doc ET Todo 9561. XX 004 was weaned early due to severe drought conditions and still weighed in at 572 lbs @ 175 days of age, adjusting to an impressive 690 lbs. There is such potential built into this heifer that Double Barrel requests the buyer scan heifer within SGBI acceptable date range so that we may collect data for our herd at sellers expense. Another great sale put on by Strait Ranches and Hefte Ranch Santa Gertrudis. Quality of cattle were as expected and we were fortunate enough to bring home this gem of a heifer. One trait we look for when building Double Barrel Cattle Co. foundation is docility, and this girl definitely has it.

When selecting cattle to build our foundation we have to be very selective. Lots of time staring at catalogs, searching through the registry, watching videos, bouncing ideas off others, applying learnings from our past mistakes, and annoying my wife. We are a small breeder with limited space, so we have to select cattle who are efficient and that have proven maternal genetics.
1034 is a Trumps Acquittal 8511 heifer who boasts an 8 IMF with a 12.6” REA. Trumps Acquittal 8511 sired the $160K Fuego bull that sold in this years Red Doc sale. 0544 is an El Sueno 8020 heifer who has an 7 IMF and 11” REA. 0544 is confirmed bred to our $60K herd sire Blaze 9508. Double Barrel Cattle Co hasn’t been here for a long time, but we’re here for a good time!

This guy has some style to him. He could be haltered right now easily.

We knew for us to push forward in the Santa Gertrudis breed we would have to do just that.

9508 calves are dropping now and they are absolutely what we envisioned and we couldn’t be more pleased.

This bull will change the breed.
