The Brazilian Moruga! Has a very unique sweet flavor along with the heat of the Scorpion! This was a new f1 cross this year that turned out great. Extremely bumpy med large pods that are sure to be used in a lot of new sauces. Seeds should be available soon if your interested in growing it!

Ever wonder what new peppers I'm working on this year? No idea what it will look like, but I have one word for you.

What would y'all think about a "Trinidad Reaper Butch T" ™ strain? LOL Actually that is one of the crosses I was working on this year! It may not work out but chemically it could possibly increase the cap content significantly. :)

ICE SCREAM SCORPION
There has been a lot of interest in this new pod, this is a unintentional cross or a genetic throwback to some crosses I was making many years ago (it does share some characteristics with the other pepper I was crossing with a Scorpion) It grew from Zydeco farms Trinidad Scorpion grow out (200 plants) and it was the only one that showed up in the grow out or from any of the thousands of seeds I had distributed to the Chile head community (1 plant? odd, Genetic?) The color was a very pale yellow, sometimes pods that claim to be white are this "Cream" like color. The flavor was very sweet, sugar sweet in fact, with a hint of a vanilla flavor buried in the unique combination of heat and flavors. The heat is very hot, not Scorpion hot, but way hotter than the habaneros. I'd rate it somewhere between 200,000 to 550,000 shu. Now as far as the name, the color and flavor reminded me of vanilla Ice Cream, the heat was the Scream part, so combined it became the ICE SCREAM SCORPION! The sweetest Scorpion ever! This will be a f2 this year and with some luck and work the seeds will become available in a year or so, fresh pods maybe this year.

When approaching the world’s hottest chile pepper, caution seems wise. “Be careful,” says San Diego-based chile grower Jim Duffy, who mailed me a sample of the Moruga Scorpion, which he is trying to...
