Last season everyone had so much fun picking berries I decided to add more blackberry beds.
First thing was to set all the end posts for the trellises. Build 300’ of raised beds and fill them with a good bedding mix. I had help from my Grandson Jude and Erick for this.
Now the work starts, transplanting 100 blackberry plants from the garden to there new location by the barn.
Install drip irrigation, mulch and run all the support wires on the trellises.
Now wait and watch them grow.

I mail order my bare root strawberry plants through the mail. As soon as I receive them the roots are put into water to rehydrate them before planting. Plant them in a quality potting medium, water and wait until November to plant in the ground.

Kingwood Garden Club came out this past weekend for a little excursion. We started in the barn for introductions, then walked all the property visiting the honeybees and all the gardens. We finished in the honey house for a demonstration of how we extract honey from the honeycomb.

This is the first time in 6 years this golden rain tree has bloomed. The first time I saw a golden rain tree was on Miller Wilson in old Crosby and I had to have one. They put on clusters of yellow blooms that turn into paper lantern seed pods.

It’s time to get all our Fall gardens planted. I planned to start all my Fall vegetable plants like normal and have lots of extras to sale to everyone. Well, sometimes life happens and you just don’t get it done. I had to buy plants for the first time in years. The first ones I bought I’ve already thrown away and went and purchased some more. Sorry to all those I told I would have fall vegetable plants for sale. I’ll let everyone know when I have fall veggies for sale. Thanks!

Final sale of the season!
Our little farmers market this Saturday, 6/20/2026 from 8:00 -12:00. This is rain or shine and we take all kinds of payment.
We have lots of freshly harvested honey.
Vegetables include; Tomatoes, cucumbers, egg plant, Serrano peppers, jalapeño peppers, bell peppers & onions.
We also have a few pounds of blackberries for sale.
Homemade Bread and butter pickles, spicy bread and butter pickles, chow chow and pickled carrots.
We have; strawberry, strawberry jalapeño, fig, fig jalapeño, blueberry, strawberry fig, carrot cake, lavender and blackberry jam.
Homemade artisan hand soap.
We’re located at 2506 Peters Road, Crosby.
The sale will be in the old house with the black fence. Come shop in the AC. Enter through the front door.
If you have any questions, you can text me at 281-683-7486. Gardens are open for anyone that wants to take a walk around.
