Stony Creeks Farm is a farm in the Upstate of South Carolina. Located in Laurens County, the farm sits on 1400+ acres of rolling hills, shaded creeks and a view of beautiful Lake Greenwood.
The land has been managed for timber for more than 80 years. Prior to that time it was a farm of row crops and cattle. Today, the land is being returned to acctively managed and productive crops of specialty hay (Lespedeza sericea and Vaughn’s #1 bermuda grass) and Chinese chestnut trees. Timber remains an important crop as well.
Lespedeza hay is very popular with farmers raising goats and sheep. This hay is known known to help in control of gastrointestinal parasites in goats and sheep. Our lespedeza hay is premium quality hay, fertilized and tested (both soil and hay), and baled by experienced farmers at the optimal time to minimize leaf shedding. We use no till drilling to maintain the quality of the biological organisms in the soil and we plant cover crops to promote soil health during the winter months when hay is dormant.
Our sqaure bales are solid and kept in dry storage prior to sale. If you haven’t tried lespedeza for your herd, you should. Contact Rick Shealy at 803-260-6502.
