FACTS ABOUT CUCUMBERS

Colored mulches are made by grinding up some form of dry wood waste, such as old pallets, into chips and then dying them with a water based solution. For the dyes to stick to the wood, it has to be dry and a chemical binder needs to be used. The inexpensive early dyes often contained toxic heavy metals and other contaminates in the colorants. Colorant tends to wash off, often stains driveways and sidewalks, and often contains algaecides and fungicides to re**rd decay and make the color last longer.

Colored mulches do not support the types and variety of beneficial microbes required for healthy plants as other organic mulches such as a good shredded native mulch or compost.

Loopholes in organic certification allow factory farms to be certified as organic as long as they don't use GMO animal feed. Consumers think the organic label means much more when it comes to animal agriculture and welfare. Unfortunately, Big Food corporations like Danone/Horizon exploit this. So if you're reading this, now you know. If you have friends or family that want to do the right thing, let them know. We will keep fighting to improve and strengthen the organic label so that factory farms are not able to be certified as organic. But in the meantime, we can all make a difference by supporting the good guys and dumping the bad guys. If you buy organic milk and dairy products, BOYCOTT DANONE/HORIZON.
