Arizona, you were everything I didn’t know I needed. ✨

Last weekend I flew out to meet one of my best friends and favorite travel buddy, , and finally got to meet her wonderful husband (), adorable son, and sweet pup. They opened their home to me and gave me the warmest welcome into my first-ever Arizona adventure.

We kicked things off with an incredible dinner at and a visit to Bookstore (which I could’ve spent hours in). The next morning, Julia and I road-tripped to Flagstaff - the cutest mountain town - where we ate delicious pizza at before heading to the Grand Canyon. I’m embarrassed to admit it was my first time there (how have I never been??), but watching both the sunset and sunrise over the canyon felt absolutely magical.

From there we drove down into Sedona, with its red rock cliffs and artsy charm. Between patio dining and a little shopping, we hiked near Coffeepot Mountain with , where we stopped to do yoga overlooking the valley while learning about the “vortex” energy Sedona is known for. The next morning we hiked Bell Rock, then headed back toward Phoenix for one of the most special dining experiences I’ve ever had - an dinner at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, featuring Chef of . The oxtail with fresh tortillas and fig butter cake were unforgettable.

We wrapped up the trip exploring the (because I’m officially obsessed with cactus now) and enjoying one last, perfect lunch at .

It was such a joy to reconnect with a dear friend and see a state this beautiful. Arizona, you completely stole my heart. Now the real question… where should Julia and I go next? ❤️

Spending a week away soaking up the sun, lounging on the lake & by the pool, getting tarot card readings, drinking on rooftops, and playing cards + dominos was the perfect getaway. We honored my dad in his favorite cove and enjoyed an incredible spa day in the hot spring baths followed by massages. We ate yummy dinners with the sunset and rediscovered our love of Hot Springs. learned to drive a boat and we learned my tolerance of water temperature is averysmallrange.

What a wonderful way to send off September 😊👯‍♀️🍂

Ken surprised me with tickets to a NYC pizza festival for my birthday, and we did the rational thing. Flew up for 3 days to eat our way through the city!

We landed Friday and went straight to a in Hell’s Kitchen - sampling everything from Japanese BBQ to tikka masala roti tacos to Georgian cheese boats. Dinner was at , hands down the best Indian food we’ve ever had (don’t miss it if you’re in NYC!).

Saturday took us by ferry to Randall’s Island for the pizza festival (yes, the East River splashed in my face 😅). We didn’t even scratch the surface of the 40+ pizza vendors but I can tell you that & hit it out of the park to top our list. After seeing a hilarious improv show at we grabbed late night drinks and fries while watching NYC hustle and bustle around us.

Sunday morning was classic bagel & lox + iced coffees from and a clam chowder filled lunch from with the one-of-a-kind (and also the most kind hearted) .

A whirlwind of a trip and filling not only for the belly but the soul. Now we’re back home and cuddling all our animals who we missed immeasurably (did we enjoy our bagels and coffee this morning sitting on a bench in Riverside Park so we could see all the very good doggies who walked by? Yes, yes we did.)

The warmer weather means evenings on the deck, watering the garden & berry patch after the heat of the day dissipates, tasty meals (like steak tacos!), and simple pleasures. ☀️🫐🌻 What does summer mean to you?

Spring is here, and with it come the soft signs of new life — the chickens are laying beautiful eggs, flower buds are starting to show, and the seeds we’ve started will be planted next month. Projects are stacking up like always, but this year feels different.

Losing my dad this spring has shifted everything. I miss him. But I’m also more aware — of the morning light, the sound of the birds, the joy in small things.

Watching the farm wake up again, seeing new growth and frolicking animals, it all brings a smile to my face. It reminds me that even in sadness, life keeps unfolding — and I’m so grateful for the time we had and the beauty still to come.

“Ah, Lovely October, as you usher in the season that awakens my soul, your awesome beauty compels my spirit to soar like a leaf caught in an autumn breeze and my heart to sing like a heavenly choir.” - Peggy Toney Horton

is in town so I’m dragging her all over to help embrace autumn and create the best “fall display” out front 🍂 🎃 ✨

Happy Autumnal Equinox! Although the leaves haven’t yet turned their vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges, today marks the official start of fall! As we await the trees to shed their leaves and let them dance in the wind, let’s enjoy spiced cider, warm pumpkin pies fresh from the oven, and the crisp autumn air each morning. We have so much to look forward to in the coming months—stay tuned to see what we get up to! 🍎🍃🎃

I wish I could tell you we were bringing these babes home, but alas. We had a great time at .tn getting to visit - all the Highland Cows were so sweet (and sassy) and Ken got to hug them so he is a happy camper 🤠 So neat that these guys are local AND shoutout to for my amazing shirt!!!

Just over a year ago, I posted a photo of our ripening Sun Gold tomatoes and raved about the upcoming garden crop. The type of tomatoes hasn’t changed but things around Blackberry Flats Farm certainly have! This summer has been hot and dry, wet and eerie, and a fantastic ramp up to all our autumn projects 🛠️ Keep following along to see our Great Dog House build and getting all moved in to the house!
