While it is cloudy with a few sprinkles in the area, today has been a perfect day to watch the birds! Our geese and turkeys are getting along with the main flock and our silkie, Dum-Dum, has become a mom with two chicks and two more hatching right now!

Lots of moving today! Geese and Turkeys are taking a turn in a tractor and newly hatched chicks are moved to the brooder. The birds in the tractor is just a temporary move until we can get them moved to the coop in a few weeks. Everyone is looking happy and curious with their new homes. It’s gonna be so fun when everyone is out on the lawn! Also, happy Mother’s Day to all my fellow Moms!

Fields of rye are looking great. Spread some seed mixes today to help fill it out later. Also, check out this goose! It’s finally losing its baby feathers and growing in its adult ones. Gonna have more chicken hatchlings in a few days, and will be changing brooders around for the birds! In the meantime, there is a production eggsplosion with our hens! The nice weather makes it perfect for laying!

Hey all! As spring starts shining, our chickens start laying in full-force! To add to it, we now have brooders full of chicks as well as baby geese and turkeys!

I know things wound down during winter, but believe me, these hens are going nuts with the egg-laying now.

Happy 2nd Birthday to our little dude! At that moment, we were living in an apartment with no idea that just a few short months later, we would be moving onto our little farm. So much has gone on in just these two short years. So much to see and so much to do!

Hey all! Thank you to all who have been supporting us so far. As fall approaches, we are noticing a slight dip in egg production as the ladies start to molt and get ready for the chillier months. On the other hand, some of our newer hens are starting to lay in the coming weeks, too! Hopefully this will help us keep up with your breakfasts!
This month, we also had a surprise hatch! 16 chicks were found in the workshop (some not yet hatched, but finished in the incubator) and brought to the nursery coop with their mom. Another hatch is doing well in there with some older chicks and two other moms.
We also now have two lovely Ayam Cemani roosters! Keep your eyes out for these beautiful, all-black chickens. And for those who love hanging out and watching the chickens; we will be bringing in something special soon. Keep posted!

Did somebody order a 12 pack? This hen went missing a while ago, and I just found her in our 4-bay this afternoon with a huge clutch of chicks! We brought them all over to our nursery coop for protection, and all are safe and sound! (I noticed some are still a little weak and wet, as they must have just hatched within the hour! Now to find the nest.)

Five chicks with this mama! My heart sank this afternoon when I couldn’t find any of them, but when I came back from the grocery store, I found them walking around outside! Love seeing them having a field day.
