This cute little calf has had quite the eventful first 48 hours of life!

My Taco girl welcomed her baby on Tuesday, June 2. She kept the little one tucked away in the trees until someone entered the pasture, then made a beeline straight to the hiding spot and proudly brought her sweet baby out to join the herd.

By Wednesday afternoon, the calf was nowhere to be found. We assumed it was napping somewhere in the tall grass again. After several laps around the pasture, we finally spotted it. Unfortunately, after being startled, this little adventurer took off faster than most calves, jumped through the hot wire, left our property, and disappeared into a heavily wooded area.

After a couple of hours of searching (with our awesome neighbor joining in on the "fun"), it became clear that this calf was playing the world's best game of hide-and-seek—and we were losing. Around 9 p.m., we officially handed the rescue mission over to Taco and hoped her baby would find its way back to her.

Thursday morning, the girls and Grandma were out feeding the twins when, lo and behold, Taco's calf was standing right by her side as if it hadn't just spent the previous day on the adventure of a lifetime, completely outsmarting us pesky humans.
