Last spring we planted 100 Mary Washington seeds.
Today we culled all the female plants that had gone to seed and planted 48 male crowns next to some Purple Passion crowns we bought last year. Our asparagus bed is complete and that feels awesome. It will take two more years before we can harvest what we planted today but when mature will produce about 35 pounds a year and then, if well cared for, will last for decades.
