The Dog House The Dog House is an independent community pantry. Share, trade, donate, accept, made for everyone. Operates under the good Samaritan laws.

The building is in the shape of Peanuts' Snoopy Dog House to honor our departed sister who was a big Peanuts fan.

Susie's clothes giveaway was a huge success. Stan and Susie brought the items from the old go-kart track to the dog house... then other people brought clothes, them more people and more people. We believe around 1,000 pieces of clothing found new homes.
This shows the need for clothes and food... and it shows the support and kindness of the people in our community.
Susie wants to do it again next year. Can we do more next year??

In the meantime, keep the donations coming. We will try to keep the clothesline full. (please dont take the clothes pins).

The Church ran clothing closet will not be open tomorrow. The Snoopy House is accessible 24/7. I will try and keep the clothesline full.

This is a 1070s ad for ham at KMart. It cost 88 cents for half a pound. At Blanchard's today Tony has ham for $1.00 a pound (50 cents for half a pound). Tony is cheaper than 1970's KMart.
Talk to the butchers in the back, if they have time, they will slice the meat for you. Check with the butchers, confirm they will slice it, purchase the meat, bring the meat and receipt back to the butcher. Give them a few days..
For a dollar a pound, you get ham and about 15 minutes of a butchers' time. That is a great deal.

This afternoon the Snoopy House was looking empty. Food was leaving as fast as people were dropping off. It got to the point there was more cloths on the line than food in the dog house... but when I went to close the roof, I see it is stocked again. The Snoopy House has been open for eight months and everyday I have been amazed by and grateful for this community.

In honor of my father, i added a few fried bologna and cheese sandwiches to the Snoopy House. Fried bologna is a southern thing. My dad told the story of when he brought his Navy buddies home.. everyone in Texas was shocked to learn his fellow sailors never heard of fried bologna.
It is like a grilled hotdog with cheese.

I have been filling in at the Isabella County Soup Kitchen this week.
On Monday we picked up 4,806 pounds of donated food. On Tuesday another two pallets of food were picked up. Took that food to Farwell Stone Kitchen.

I also washed dishes.. My first job in 1977 was washing dishes, now my last job in 2026 is washing dishes again.

Happy 4th of July
Stay hydrated. The large refrigerator that set next to the Snoopy House has been filled with water. Someone dropped off two cases of Gatorade which are now chilling in the refrigerator.
These are for those people cruising around on golf carts, ridding bike, jogging, walking dog, just driving through town... it is important to stay hydrated so feel welcomed, stop and help yourself to a frozen treat, a bottle of water or a bottle of Gatorade.
