🧇 🍽️ This sweet boy and his 11U ALL STAR team have some goals for some gear. So of course I told them I would help! 🍽️ 🧇

My heart is so full tonight.

What an incredible evening of baseball.

It was the last inning and the score was tied 8-8. The stakes were high, emotions were high, and unfortunately some adults from the opposing team chose to loudly bad-mouth our players and coaches—with cuss words—during their 13U baseball game. 😣

But our boys never let it affect them.

As the home team, we had the last at-bat. Western led off and absolutely crushed a ball into the right-center gap. The next two batters battled hard but struck out. During those at-bats, Western stole his way around the diamond and found himself standing on third, waiting for his teammates to bring him home.

Then Liam stepped into the box.

He laid down an absolute MONEY bunt down the third-base line. Western scored, an overthrow left Liam safe at first, and just like that—the game was over.

Walk-off win.

But tonight wasn’t just about winning.

It was about watching a group of young men keep their heads high while adults tried to tear them down. It was about grit, teamwork, composure, and heart.

They ignored the noise and played baseball.

I. AM. SO. PROUD. ❤️⚾️💙

In March, Mariah with The Snitchstead won some hatching eggs from a waffle we put on prior to her starting the benefit breakfast she did for us. Well, since then, her incubators were pretty stuffed, and I was flexible. So we’ve delayed shipping until she had space. I’m clearly terrible at keeping secrets because she gives me the go ahead to collect and next day, I’m hand picking her eggs and sending pictures.
Ms Mariah, you deserve these eggs. I hope you have the most amazing hatch ever! Thank You for everything.

Nolie, I adore and appreciate you. You aren’t wrong at all. This social media world is hard. I just spoke to a client about this the other day. She was surprised at the amount of orders that go out in our small farm and the amount of people unwilling to leave a positive review. Let’s say 20 orders total. 19 people have great experiences and 1 person is dissatisfied and doesn’t have a hatch rate to their expectations. All 19 people who had positive experiences, don’t leave positive reviews. (Let’s be real, we are lucky to have 2 people willing to leave positive reviews.) But that 1 person who has a dissatisfied experience will 100% leave a negative review and they’ll tell everyone they know. And sometimes, the client doesn’t even reach out to the breeder to tell them about their experience. How quickly people are willing to tear others down is really disheartening. I have always tried to do what I can to help my clients, as well as other people.

I do also feel the over saturation in the market, tied to the “hatching eggs are a gamble”, makes people see dollar signs. To an unethical breeder, once shipped hatching eggs leave their hands, they no longer have any obligation to the buyer. And the “sorry about your bad luck” is the go to response. So buyers are getting screwed by some breeders. But I’m also seeing breeders shipping out cull eggs, packed in terrible packaging. There absolutely should be an expectation of the hatching eggs and the shipping methods breeders are using. But this is also lack of education, care and ethics by some breeders. As a breeder, I’ve had packages arrive absolutely wrecked. Half the eggs broken, box is in total disarray… but I tell them set the rest of the eggs anyways and see what happens. They’ll still hatch almost 100%. How can this be? When breeders say “they must have had a rough ride so it’s the fault of the shipping service not theirs….this leaves the buyers in an awkward place. I believe breeders need to do better. I’m sorry. I’ll say it. I see breeders who are putting the care into their flocks. Nutrition and genetics are so important. It’s so much more than throwing some birds in a pen and shipping eggs. Healthy birds with strong genetics produce offspring that can withstand the pressures.

I don’t know the answers and I can’t control the things others do. What I can control is myself, my policies, my ethics, and my care for my clients.
