Small Beginings

Newly engaged and in search for a place to start, Kevin and I, while on a stroll at his family farm, had an epiphany. We realized our housing dilemma could be solved by restoring and moving into the farmhouse his great grandparents built in 1945. With only 5 months before the big day, family and friends gathered together to turn the long vacant farmhouse into a home.

Little did we know, what started as a house renovation would turn into a full scale farm restoration! After over a decade of letting the farm grow up, we’ve started the process of reclaiming pastures, building secure fencing, and using the animals themselves to rehabilitate and enrich the land. After the goats eat back the briers and the buck brush, the sheep graze what remains like a finishing mower, all scattering nutrients as they go. Hogs and chickens coexist happily while tilling our garden beds and donkeys patrol the borders keeping our livestock safe from predators. A little closer to home, we have two lovable pups, Freki & Bear, who are at our side through it all! Together, we are taming the family farm one fence post at a time.
