Pinching your dahlias 🤏🏻 is a great way to produce more branches on your plant. More branches = more flowers. I’m just now getting around to doing ours because we have had so much rain 🌧️. Tomorrow, everyone will get a dose of fertilizer, molasses (more on that tomorrow 😉), and they will be corralled to prevent them from falling over in rain or windstorms that I am sure we will have this summer.

I genuinely think they have conversations like this 🤣

Summer break is here ☀️. We’re taking a break this summer. That doesn’t mean we won’t be working behind the scenes, but mixed bouquets will be out of stock on the website until August. If you need flowers for pickup, reach out the day before so we can ensure we have what you want and we can pick it in the cool of the evening or morning. Make sure you’re following along in stories to see how everything is growing. We’re looking forward to a beautiful fall.

I don’t know if we’ve ever had hydrangeas this close to being ready in May 🤗. What’s blooming for you right now?•••

Pinching your plants seems a little harsh, but it’s a great way to get more blooms. A few summer plants I pinch:
*Zinnias
*Celosia
*Cosmos
*Dahlias
All of these are cut and come again flowers which makes them a great candidate for pinching.

One of my favorite views. Blackberry vines, grape vines, peony plants, and just a few dahlias 💕•••

While everything (and I do mean everything) has bloomed early this season, the callas have been the hold outs. The majority are still coming out of the ground, but our landscape callas are blooming. Let me tell you how hardy of a flower they are. Matt chopped one off accidentally while weeding this last weekend. We threw the flower in the little dump trailer and left it outside for half the day 🫣. We came back out and it looked terrible-wilty and sad. He recut it, stuck it in water, and it looks good as new. They’re hardy little things.

Oh Mister Rogers 🥹. Growing flowers leaves me in wonder and awe. It’s the process of starting a flower from a seed and watching it emerge from the soil. It’s the birds and the bees and other insects that are constantly visiting what they see as a food source and a safe haven to reside. The enigma of how a plant knows when to bloom and when it’s time is over. It’s how the seasons change -almost so subtle that we don’t even notice. Maybe we can all turn down the noise and let wonder back in.

Today was a major cutting day. Heirloom mums can be propagated easily and this is how we ensure we have plenty of blooms in October into November.
