Happy Thanksgiving week! Peonies, tulips, and daffodils are going in the ground this week. If I say it, I have to do it. Accountability.

I will be ready to rest after that. This concept of “wintering” keeps popping up everywhere. I gather it means settling in and cozying up your space (whatever that looks like). One of my favorite “wintering” activities is reading physical books. If you have any good suggestions, drop them below. Historical Fiction is my favorite!

Hi 👋🏻 We’re Matt and Stephanie. So many new faces have joined us this year and I thought I should share what we actually do! We live in Cullman, AL, and we grow and deliver seasonal mixed bouquets💐. I feel like our bouquets are special because we touch every portion of the process from seed/bulb to flower. It’s a year round job and we typically have flowers from March until October. We love sharing growing tips and encouraging other people to grow flowers too. I We actually have our tulip bulb sale going on currently and our spring flower subscription will launch soon 👀. We would love to say hello and hear how you found about us ⬇️ !

Tulip bulbs are coming and we’d love to grow along with you. Tulips are always the first sign of spring’s arrival. We offer pre-chilled bulbs which helps tulips grow taller in our area. If you’re thinking it’s too late to plant, we usually plant ours the week of Thanksgiving and that is when they will be delivered to you (Cullman, AL). Every order comes with 10 bulbs and a planting guide. If you’re intimidated by growing, tulips are a great place to start. Head to the website to pre-order yours.

Done. 2 person job today. The dahlia tubers are dug, washed, and divided. I don’t even have a grand total, but there were 200ish clumps.

Pathways pulled, drip moved, and 600 anemones and ranunculus planted. Now we wait on the tulips 🌷 🫠.

Dahlias are chopped. It means it is almost time to dig to store for winter. Most have labels 🙌🏻 I think I have earned an iced coffee and an evening watching Downton Abbey (again). How do you reward yourself after a big project is done?

Time change seemed like the perfect time to finish labeling and start the process of digging dahlia tubers. The weather is perfect for it. Washing dahlia tubers in the cold is not my favorite job 😂, but the weather today was perfect for it.

I picked these last night before the rain, but wasn’t that something? It was the first rain in all of October on the last day of the month. So thankful for it.

Frost missed us last week right as we left for vacation. It’s always fun to come back and see what has bloomed. The dahlias that are in bloom have open centers and the bees and butterflies are enjoying them. This warm weather is definitely amazing, but you can tell everything is trying to deal with shortened daylight hours. Nature has a way of telling us when to let go. It’s just about time.

Anemones. You can look up the Greek story behind them 🫠, but I think they’re divine. Usually, they’re one of the first to flower for us and we have grown them in quite a few colors. My favorite is the traditional black and white ‘panda’ anemone, but the pastel has also become a favorite for the unique coloring. They’re phototropic-meaning they try to find the light and open under brighter conditions, but close again at night. We have a few more packs of these left for local delivery (Cullman, AL). Each pack of 10 comes with a growing guide and they can be planted soon if you would like. Shop closes tomorrow evening to ensure delivery and to prepare for tulip bulbs. Head to our website for more information.
