OkOne of the hardest lessons God will teach you is that you cannot save everybody. ❤️‍🩹 You can pray for them. You can speak truth unto them. You can encourage them, love them, forgive them, and extend your hand again and again… but you cannot make somebody receive what they have already chosen to reject. I think about the rich young ruler in Mark 10. He came running unto Jesus asking what he must do to inherit eternal life. Jesus looked upon him and loved him, then told him the truth about what was keeping his heart bound. But when the young man heard it, Scripture says he “went away grieved.” — Mark 10:22. And Jesus let him go. That part will preach all by itself. Jesus loved him, yet He did not chase after him. He did not change the truth to make him stay. He did not force him to surrender what he was unwilling to release. Sometimes love looks like helping, and sometimes love looks like releasing. There will be people you desperately want better for, but you cannot want healing, change, peace, or obedience more than they want it for themselves. At some point, you have to place them into the hands of God and understand that you were never called to carry what only God can change. Even Jesus told His disciples that when people would not receive them, they were to “shake off the dust under your feet” and continue forward. — Mark 6:11. That does not mean your heart has become cold. It means you have learned that having compassion does not require you to remain attached to everything you have compassion for. Pray for them. Forgive them. Love them from where God has placed you. But when the Lord tells you it is time to release your grip, RELEASE IT. Some people must have their own encounter with God. And sometimes the most faithful thing you can do is stop trying to rescue somebody God never assigined you to save. 🤍One of the hardest lessons God will teach you is that you cannot save everybody. ❤️‍🩹 You can pray for them.
