We are considering offering 30 and over western riding and horsemanship lessons. There are many lesson programs for kids, but we often meet folks 30, 40, 50+ who are beginners, or may want to improve certain skills. We can be flexible with day/time to accommodate work/ life schedules. We have an indoor space, so rain/dark won't prevent the lesson from happening. Ride our mount and tack or yours. Lessons would be one on one, no audience, no judgement. Pricing will be affordable. Location Cullman, AL. Anyone interested?

Owning mules sure is expensive,
When you factor in the price of hay.
And six bucks a gallon for diesel,
Is a lot to have to pay.

And the cost of a brand new pickup,
Will certainly make you cringe.
Then throw in the cost of a horse trailer,
And you're on the financial fringe.

Then there's breast collars, britchins,
Saddles and all the other tack.
I think I'm much better off,
If I try not to keep track.

Then there's vet bills and farriers,
Guess they need to make a living too.
But when I total up all their bills
They sure make a lot more than I do.

And I haven't even mentioned,
The price ya pay now for mules.
They're more pricey than diamonds, emeralds,
And all other precious jewels.

So you have to ask yourself, is it really worth All the money that you've spent?
Well I don't know about you.
But for me...yep every single cent!

Mule Health Facts
🐴 Mules have a very fast metabolism. They can live in very arid conditions so when the going is good they gain weight easily. They must be kept fit and not allowed to get overweight, as they struggle to lose weight and it has detrimental consequences to their health. They like to browse (eat leaves) and will often live happily where a horse cannot.
🐴 Mules and donkeys have oval-shaped hooves, they are not the same shape as a horse. Bear this in mind when trimming.
🐴Mules have thicker hoof walls than horses and rarely need shoes. They are built tougher and harder due to being a hybrid.
🐴Mules have different muscle structures to horses and donkeys which means their gait is different, they are stronger and tack fits them differently.
🐴 Mule muscle is denser than horses. Think of a horse muscle as a sponge and then mule muscle as memory foam in comparison.
🐴 Horses have two muscles on their chest (you can see the divider if you stand in front of a horse and look at the area from the top of his legs to the base of his neck). Mules on the other hand have one smooth muscle across the front.
🐴 Mules can kick in any direction. The long smooth muscles they have allows them to kick forwards, backward, and sideways with force and accuracy.
🐴 Mules are not the wild savage animals Hollywood wants us to believe they are. They are simply smarter than horses and need to be handled with trust and clear communication.
🐴 Mules live a long time they can easily live to 40yrs and still be useful and active.
🐴Mules play very rough, they are athletic and fast so what they consider to be a fun game can be devastating to smaller and weaker animals. They can also cause damage to horses who have thinner skin and are not as flexible.
🐴 Mules can take time to adjust to a new home. They will make their own choice about their humans.
🐴Mules are much stronger than horses the same size. They can bear weight and have excellent balance. They are prized in the rough country due to their careful well-balanced movement.

This is a pretty accurate summary of the Catahoula.

Most Louisiana Catahoulas are spotted up, known as Leopard in coloring. Some have 2 to 5 different colors in their coat, with one base coat color and contrasting spots and trim color. Others may be almost a solid color, with a little white on the chest, face and/or legs.

Duke has matured and spread out to make a big, handsome boy. The pic on the left is when we got him last June, the right is today. He's such a good dog and produces some outstanding pups!
