Unfortunately, since the sod fields have been too wet, we have been unable to cut sod at this time. We will need a stretch of several days of sunshine in order to start cutting. We appreciate your patience and will post the date we start cutting again.

Tips on new sod care:
-Water New Sod Towards Evening
The recommended amount is at least an inch twice daily. If possible, try and water the sod in the evening or late in the day; this ensures that water is absorbed into the soil and not evaporated in the sun's rays.
-Mowing properly
Do not mow your sod directly after installing it. The best time for your first mowing is after the grass has reached 4 to 5 inches (in about 7-14 days). Also, you do not want to over-mow your lawn; a grass length of around 2 inches is ideal.
-Fertilization
Wait to fertilize your new lawn for about 2 months. When you do, be sure to use products with a 2-1-1 or 4-1-3 ratio. After the sod has taken root and become established in the soil, the best times for regular fertilization are early in the fall and early in the spring.

Spring and Fall are typically the best times to plant sod!

Laying sod is a good idea for those who want an instant yard. After a few hours of laying the sod, you can have a dense looking yard. Choose a sod type that will grow in your region. Warm season grass like bermuda is generally grown in the southern United States. Hunter Sod offers Tifwayy II Bermuda. Call for a free quote, 256-796-5119!

I called & left about 7 messages asking for a callback to get some information about your sod. Didn't happen. Finally someone answered the phone and I asked about the weight of a pallet of sod so we'd know if our pickup would haul it. The young man who answered said between 1,000 & 1,200 pounds. So my husband takes his pickup & drives 45 miles to your sod farm only to have a pallet squat the truck & then be told the pallet weighs about 3,000 lbs. They had to take the sod back off the truck & it's fortunate that the classic '66 Chevy didn't get damaged. Had we had any idea of the correct weight, he'd have come prepared in the first place. I really hope you'll caution people not to answer questions they don't know the answer to. Now my husband is driving 60+ miles to get a trailer to pull 60+ miles back to your sod farm so he'll be able to haul the sod. Then he'll drive 45 miles to bring the sod to our location on the lake. I was so pleased to learn we could buy sod directly from a sod farm that wasn't too bad a drive. But trying to do business with you has been difficult, to say the least. I only hope when he returns with the trailer, there won't be any more problems. Having a person around who can speak English would be very helpful, too. If there are, I'll add them to this post. Whoever is in charge needs to be aware of these issues.
