calf #5 was born today
a very hungry little heifer

this is a difficult post
i didn’t realize it until it was too late but
calf #4 was breech
momma tried for hours to deliver it
but it was stillborn
momma survived and is fine

a harsh reminder that when keeping and raising livestock there’s nothing that can be taken for granted

thank you to my neighbors jeff, janet, and madie for helping deliver the calf

calving season has begun

in january “big boy” arrived on the farm and went right to work
all my cows are pregnant and should start calving in late october

it’s been a busy month at fleur de lis
so i didn’t get to post this sooner
we had 3 calves born the week after thanksgiving
two bull calves and a heifer
