Did you know we can add concentrated garlic oil to your Mix 30 for fly control? Garlic oil is a natural deterrent for flies. We have been impressed with the results in our own cows. The black cow (68) by far had the heaviest fly pressure of the bunch. No pour ons, no back rubbers, no fly tags…just Mix 30 with garlic oil.

Garlic oil is $1/ounce. In a typical round 4 wheel feeder we will add about 35 ounces.

Do you test your hay? Can you tell by looking what the moisture, crude protein, RFV, ADF, NDF, and digestible energy are? We sure can't. Pretty hay doesn't necessarily mean nutritious hay.

Cows are sort of like powerlifters. We need them to keep optimal body condition while performing (gestating, raising calves, growing). A powerlifter doesn't get to the top of their game by guessing at their diet. Your cows shouldn't either.

Mix 30 can help make up the gap where your forage is lacking. When fed free choice, cows will consume Mix 30 as needed to meet their requirements. This will change depending on the forage quality, and their energy and protein needs. Energy and protein needs will vary based on age, production stage (feeder cattle, gestation, lactation, breeding bulls, etc) and environment.

***The highest protein forage in these pictures is the hay in the red sand. Peanut vine hay doesn't look pretty, but is comparable to alfalfa.

Low quality forage diets commonly contain an insufficient amount of protein and energy to meet the nutritional requirements of the ruminant. On these types of diets, rate of passage is slow resulting in efficient microbial crude protein synthesis (more energy is necessary for microbial maintenance). Mix 30 can supply additional forms of protein as well as additional energy to help meet rumen fermentation needs. Mix 30 contains “fiber microbe friendly” carbohydrates that are low in sugar and starch.

DID YOU KNOW? - Mix 30 can be fed in open top containers. If you are only feeding a few head or have a few separated that still need feed old protein tubs are a great option. For larger herds old plastic/Rubbermaid water troughs make great feeders.
