There are a lot of pretty corners around the farm, and photographers always seem to find the best ones! 📷🍓

Strawberry season is no exception. Between the berry rows, little hands reaching for the ripest ones, red-stained smiles, and baskets in the sunshine, the patch has a way of doing half the work for you.

While some beautiful spots around Des Moines charge photography fees, we keep it easy: no additional photography charge. Photographers and clients just pay standard farm admission if entering the you-pick fields.

Our conditions are simple: please be mindful of other guests, and tag Wilson’s Orchard & Farm when sharing your photos. We love seeing the farm through your perspective 💛

This week is the calm before the strawberry storm. We'll be opening the patch on June 3rd for berry-picking, and it's about to get very, very busy! 🍓

If you’re hoping for a softer you-pick visit, this is your little nudge to come early in the week and skip the weekend rush. Weekdays tend to be quieter, more spacious, and a little more budget-friendly, which means more room to wander, pick at your own pace, and take those sweet berry patch photos without a crowd behind you. Reservations are always a good idea at the Ciderhouse, especially as the season picks up! 🧺

🧺 Check-in at the Farm Market on weekdays, or the Admission Shack on weekends to pay for admission & gather your picking supplies!

🍓 Wander the rows, fill your container, and snap a few photos along the way

🛝 Visit the Farmyard and enjoy the corn crib, slides, climbing areas, and room to run

🍽️ Settle in for a farm-to-table dinner at the Ciderhouse. Enjoy free live music on Sundays from 3-6pm!

🍦 Cool off with strawberry lemonade slushies or strawberry sundaes made with our own berries at the cafe

Iowa weather has a way of keeping us on our toes, and this spring has certainly been memorable. We’ve had a few surprise cold snaps, with temperatures dipping lower than expected this time of year.

In a typical season, we might bring out frost protection once or twice. These past couple of weeks, we’ve used it four times, doing everything we can to care for the fields. Strawberries ask a lot of us, but they’re worth every bit of attention.

It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes work that often goes unseen, and it’s all leading us toward something we’re really excited about, our third strawberry season this June. 🍓
