Yesterday I put a rooster in with Conan to see what would happen.

And while I was right there for any corrections, it was not needed.

I think they are both avoiding look at each other in an attempt to think the other doesn’t exist. 😂

Conan’s looking for his next farm. He’s only being offered on neuter contract as the shape of his head imo is not quite up to standard. He’s a sweet boy who does wonderfully with cows & goats and as you can see won’t take too long before he’s wonderful with birds as well!

For everyone that was super worried about Red & his yoke…

Look he can lie down & rest just fine. Also he’s now wearing a regular nylon collar….

This photo was taken while I was in the barn milking & he was snoozing with a few goats waiting for their turn to be milked.

Red is doing excellent with the milkers and free range chickens & ducks! So far no mishaps. He does eye the chicks a bit, but hasn’t made any move towards them! And he enjoys hanging with the goats!

You might wonder about the yoke? Well it’s a common livestock guardian dog implement. Our farm utilizes a lot of tube gates and not all of them have fencing to block the wide open spaces! A yoke just stops the dog from going out of the gates. It doesn’t hamper his ability to bond or protect his stock.

Separated the boys from the girls as we want no accidental oops happening as the girls are starting to enter their heat cycles.

This boy got singled out as he hasn’t had much work with a leash. After 20min of unhappiness about the collar and lead he’s settled in the barn and been calm as a cucumber (I think he’s enjoying the barn fans in this heat!) He’s ignored the kids racing by, and the free range poultry & waterfowl.

Of course he’s looking for his forever farm still!

Beetle hanging under shelter has been so far a good chicken guardian. No interest in playing with or chasing.

Did I mention he’s also good with goats?

Beetle (puppy) working the perimeter with Spookie(2yr) and Kris.

Beetle is doing really well at ignoring birds & learning guardianship from one of our excellent guardians

He’s still searching for his forever farm.

He’s excellent with goats & loves children!

Since yesterday I posted about Eclipse here’s her littermate sister!

Fox on Fire H on cloud 9
3yr, 2nd freshner, wattles

https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=B002419484

9 isn’t as solid of a doe as Eclipse is and isn’t as an easy keeper as her sister. But she definitely still has her production levels. Producing a little over a gallon/day.

This year she produced a single experimental doe (alpine) that is gorgeous (7th Heaven)

She will remain on extended lactation for 2027.

Eclipse is by of Heavens Hollow So a Sure thing and out of my foundation doe SGCH Okanogan Oberhaslis LikeaDiva

Eclipse is a very strong production doe with solid feet & legs. She’s a bit more of a Cobby Oberhasli build then a refined show type. If you want milk, milk, milk. This is the line you want to go towards. I’ve been slowly working in show type as well.

Eclipse current has 1 full sister (Cloud 9)in the herd and 1 half sister (Lucky) currently she has 2 daughters(Solar Flare & Nebula)- Nebula is still available! And she looks wonderful. Don’t make me 2nd guess letting her leave!

Eclipse easily produces over a gallon/day of milk.

Currently since her daughter is set to freshen next year, Eclipse will be on extended lactation for 2027 and possibly 2028!

Fox on Fire VM Radiance
Aka Mayhem

https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=B002339386

3yr, 2nd freshening, polled.

Mayhem is taking her time to mature. Last year she had a difficult slow labor but produced a stunning kid(Spitfire) and this year she kidded on her own and promptly was bitten by a snake (nonvenomous I think) she had a doe kid and is doing great having healed just fine!

So chaos rages lol. I guess it’s what I get for having a doe in the barn named Mayhem!

She has a very nice general appearance but her udder is taking its sweet time to match. She’s getting there, it’s just patience! She’s the only daughter by Vanjust VL Melbourne before he unexpectedly went sterile. Boy was I bummed! She’s out of Fox on Fire Spirit of Denali- a Dawn daughter linebred on my foundation doe Breakaway Farms TA Denali. She is half-sister (maternal)to Noisy & Shenanigans. Her daughters are Spitfire & PITA.

I have an AI planned for her as well! She will either have Lookatme Kanes JoyNTriumph or Half-barn Farm VL Rumpshaker(back up buck will be Haycreeks Traveler Ta**us)

All does retained, possibly one buck retained. Open reservation on 2nd bucks!

Fox on Fire TF April in Paris

4yr, 3rd freshner Experimental

https://genetics.adga.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=E002249544

April is lovely! The worst thing is that she’s given me no daughters!
This doe is Flair’s half sister. She’s got a lot great genetics going for her. She’s exceptionally productive. And is actually more Oberhasli
Than the Lamancha ears she sports while being the correct Oberhasli color! Her dam is Buttin’heads Ella Fitzgerald.

I plan to put April on extended lactation for 2027. Look for her breeding plans in 2028- where I hope to have an exciting AI planned!
