In the midst of the Nor’easter ☔️ this weekend, we had a very successful Tunis show at the Big E. A special thanks to Kyle Thayer for trimming the sheep again this year.

Highlights included:

Overall 🏅reserve champion ewe with Spilde 891. We purchased her in their online sale this spring.

Junior champion ewe with Busy Corner Farm 1329, “Ginny”. She was the first place January ewe lamb. She was our first AI Tunis lamb born on the farm. Thank you to Clint Garey for selling the semen.

In addition to those two, we also had:

2nd place February ram lamb
2nd place March ram lamb
2nd place slick ram lamb
2nd place slick ewe lamb
2nd pair of ewe lambs
2nd Exhibitors and Breeders Flock
1st place Get of Sire

We brought 13 total Tunis and every one of them finished in the top 5.

We showed all three flocks at the 3 County Fair on Saturday.
Highlights included:

Champion AOB ram with “Aspen”, a Gotland yearling ram.

Champion Tunis ram with Busy Corner Farm 1327, a fall ram lamb.

🏆 Supreme Champion Ewe with Busy Corner Farm 1329, a January AI ewe lamb.

The 158th Cummington Fair is in the books. The kids each showed two sheep in the youth show on Saturday, and we exhibited our three breeds Sunday in the open show.

A highlight of the weekend was watching our mom, Jan Loux, be recognized as part of the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

We capped off the sheep show with Supreme Champion Ewe 🏆 on our Tunis January ewe lamb.

We also had champion Tunis ram with our March ram lamb.

Where has the summer gone? ☀️ It’s hard to believe our first show will be in less than two weeks. If you are attending any of these fairs. please stop by and visit our pens.

Our freezers are restocked in time for grilling season. All our lamb is processed in a USDA facility and raised on our farm.
We will deliver locally or pickup is always available at the farm.

Lambing season is officially over! A single Gotland ram lamb born yesterday afternoon.
We started lambing on October 19 and ended exactly 6 months later.
We will not be consigning any in OH this year. There is breeding stock available for all three breeds this spring off the farm.

We have two boneless legs of lamb available for your Easter gathering. They are both just over four pounds. We can arrange for local delivery or pickup at the farm.

If you’re in Dalton, stop in and try the shepherd’s pie or lamb stew.

There’s always added excitement when the first lambs of the season arrive. These twins are extra special because they are the first AI Tunis lambs born at Busy Corner Farm. Thanks to Dr. Gately for her work this summer.

We had purchased some straws of semen from Garey 1051 when Clint sold his flock.

Their mother, BCF 1253 “Paulina”, was Best Headed ewe at the 2023 Big E.
