NCTA Horticulture Students

NCTA Horticulture Students This is the campus of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. We have many projects on our list.

This page will track the process -however smooth or bumpy- of transforming the landscapes, greenhouse, and overall curb-appeal. A new dorm building needs a landscape plan, and an old building needs a landscape renovation. Our greenhouse needs cleaned, reorganized, painted, and repaired. Our new hightunnel needs put into production, and plans need made for perennial production. Our tropical plants

need cut back, added to, and propagated to create new houseplants to sell. The land surrounding our greenhouse may one day be turned into a learning garden, showing examples of different garden methods, landscape construction projects, and showcasing plants we learn in class. We would also like to start incorporating sustainable gardening methods into our program through possible organic production. On the rest of our campus, we are in the process of creating mulch rings around the trees, removing old stumps, and fixing minor landscape faux pas. Some of these projects will be completed before the fall semester, and others will be taken on by the horticulture students when school commences. In other words, we are overhauling our division, and hoping you enjoy watching the process!

Don't skip this step when installing new trees and shrubs, even if the plant's description might suggest it's not necessary.
