It’s Earth Day. A Time to Reflect and Prepare.
Today marks four years since the Cambridge area wildfire and with a Red Flag Warning in place across our region, the reminder hits close to home: conditions can change quickly, and preparation matters.
That’s why Curtis area residents and students of all ages are invited to continue this important conversation at an upcoming community meeting focused on climate, weather, and resiliency.
Meeting Details:
• Date: Monday, April 27, 2026
• Time: 6:00 p.m. Central Time
• Location: NCTA Student Union - The Barn
This event is part of Rural Confluence, a National Science Foundation-supported project that connects Nebraska communities with research, data, and practical strategies to prepare for challenges like drought, wildfire, and changing weather patterns.
At the meeting, you can:
• Learn how weather and climate trends are impacting agriculture, water, and rural life
• Explore real examples of how communities are building resilience
• Share your experiences, concerns, and ideas
• Help shape solutions for the future of Curtis and surrounding areas
For students, it’s a chance to connect classroom learning to real-world challenges, meet professionals in agriculture and natural resources, and better understand the risks and opportunities shaping their future.
For community members, your voice is essential. Local insight helps guide meaningful, practical solutions.
