Happy 4th of July 🇺🇲! This is a big day for everyone, but especially for ASHDA as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary! It's hard to think it's been a whole decade since a group of dedicated lovers of the breed came together to form a continuance of Everett Smith's original registry- and we're so proud and honored to have Mr. Smith as a lifetime member and Director Emeritus with us today!

In celebration of our ten years of seeing our incredible breed grow and the programs we've developed be embraced by our own membership, and by other breed clubs new and old, we've decided to upgrade one of our most beloved ASHDA competitions- the virtual show!

Our Virtual Shows allow ASHDA members across the globe to compete from the comfort of home and to take the time to get the absolutely perfect entry required to show their horses to the best they can be! This year, our Virtual Show has gotten an enormous upgrade to our very first ASHDA National Show! Our full class list will be up on the website soon, and entries open officially on July 15th and close on October 15th to allow our members time to plan around any potential obstacles.

With four judges and endless opportunities to be one of the first ASHDA National Champions, we know this show is going to be a blast for all of our competitors.

Hall of Fame Induction - Charlie Degas

When it comes to the line that helped found the Stonewall Sport Horse, and therefore, our very own Sugarbush Harlequin Drafts, there can only be one draft in the discussion- and that is Charlie Degas.

Charlie Degas was a registered Percheron stallion owned by Stonewall Stud Book founder, Michael Muir. Bred to a daughter of Apache Double, Stonewall Dottie West, Charlie Degas sired Stonewall Baby Jane, the dam of the famous Stonewall Rascal, who was chosen to sire the very first Sugarbush Harlequin Draft c**t. When Rascal was gelded, Everett chose a different grandson of Charlie Degas' to breed for his next Sugarbush foals, Stonewall Domino.

Charlie Degas is behind five different ASHDA Hall of Fame horses, more than any other ASHDA Hall of Famer:

Sugarbush Harley Quinne
Stonewall Rascal
Sugarbush Harley's Classic O
Sugarbush O Rosamunde
Stonewall Virginia

And is behind almost every currently registered E-Designation horse.

Of the great stallions that have left an impression, Charlie Degas certainly has left an incredible legacy.

Congratulations to Michael Muir and the Stonewall Stud Book on this legendary stallion's induction into ASHDA's Hall of Fame.
