Sunny Patch Farm

Heather Sletten and her young son Cooper, were ready for an increase in space, a decrease in neighbors, and (FINALLY) a garden big enough to satisfy Heather's itchy green thumb. The house had been getting repaired and renovated for most of the past 3 years, but the yard was not as fortunate. We bought the property in 2012 and yes we had more elbow room, but the gardens had to be added in by hand.

It took some time learning about the sun patterns we'd see and after a few design discussions, the planting began. We since added 3 vegetable gardens, several herb and flower beds all which seem to be thriving. This fall the newest addition to our farm arrived, 8 chickens and 2 bunnies....

They have been a fantastic addition, these creatures have not only given us laughter and joy. But they have provided the kiddos with a sense of responsibility and wanting to learn about the farm life. With egg collecting, chicken chasing, cage cleaning and regular care we are all really enjoying our new additions. In the last Year Jim and his children have moved to Sunny Patch and have helped us create an even more beautiful space. We have added, goats and a potbelly pig to our small homestead.
