Porto Venere is not large but it has taken us a couple of days to explore the area. Today we discovered the centuries old clifftop fortress Castello Doria and the quaint shops leading to it. Below the fortress is a diving cove with crystal clear water. For so many reasons, this is by far our favorite place.

Italy: Day…I’ve lost track

It has taken a few days but I think we are finally in vacation mode. We have traveled to the coast. Porto Venere is a small port for fishermen located in the heart of Cinque Terre. Wine is not the main focus here although there is local wine. Seafood is abundant, beaches are rocky and the views are stunning. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Italy: Day 1

We arrived in Milan, a major global center for fashion, design and finance. Known for its blend of historic art and architecture, modern luxury and sites such as the Duomo, “The Last Supper” and the famous Galleria Vittorio. Tonight we dine al fresco in the Galleria, watching people, drinking wine and relaxing into a new rhythm. Tomorrow we drive to Piedmont, where we will immerse ourselves in winemaking with third generation winemakers at Malvirá. Saluté

We’ve been serving up our seasonal dessert for a few weeks now and over and over again, we hear folks say “just like my mom (or grandma) used to make”. Strawberry Shortcake with scratch made biscuits, and whipped cream and juicy strawberries! 🍓 💯🙌🏻
