This a no-cost serivce. Ferndale Hill Farm was started by the Lipsey family in the early part of the 1900's and was purchased by the Flessas family in the late 1960's and reborn as Flessas Groves Inc. We were hit by the freezes in 1985-1986 that caused citrus production to be pushed further south into Florida. As a result, Flessas Foliage Inc. was created. We built a 1 acre greenhouse and began co

mmercial production of philodendron (various Ficus and Rubber trees) using synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. After the hurricanes that hit the state in 2004-2005 the facility was damaged and we lost a lot of trees. We sought out government aid for lost product and facility repairs to no avail (banks got bailed out, we got sold out!). Over the last few years we have undergone swift and radical changes as we are now switching our form over to an organic process. No chemicals are used on the food we distribute, the ground and soil we use for production.

Check out our new permaculture video in the comments below ⬇️ (sound on πŸ”Š)! In Florida, Spanish Moss gets thick in the trees and can weigh them down causing damage, so we thin it out and use for mulch around our trees and pineapples.

This creates protection for shallow roots from the summer Florida heat, provides moisture retention, and adds much needed carbonaceous material to our sandy hillside soil as it breaks down creating biomass for soil culture. Enjoy the process!
