When we harvest our rabbits, nothing goes to waste. In these pictures, Jordan Bastien is working on pelts. If you’ve ever seen a bear skin rug, you’ve seen a pelt! This process takes a lot of time and patience, but the result is beautiful.

We’re back from a very eventful time at the Menominee County Fair! We had many critters attend the fair, including Jordan Bastien’s Katahdin hair sheep Banshee, who was shown in market class and showmanship.🐑

Along with a lamb, we also brought 10 rabbits, 4 of them for market, and received best in show youth rabbit! 🐇 We can’t thank our 2026 market buyers Carney-Nadeau Agriscience - AFNR & FFA and Freis Farm enough for their generous support at the auction.

Overall, we had an amazing time! At the end of the day, it’s all about having fun and building relationships that will last. And that was certainly the most rewarding part of the week!

I haven’t been posting very often, but I assure you the rabbits are still going strong! I weren’t through my barn and culled a significant amount of my old brood does to make room for some new jr grow outs (pictured here, I’m really happy with her!). And I can say I’m happy with the progress 😄.

I’ll be attending two fairs this summer, the Menominee County Fair and the UP State Fairgrounds with market rabbits and a market lamb. Definitely staying busy!
