I’ve been a little behind on sharing show results for Team Peppadew. July was a busy, successful, exciting and emotional month. ❤️🤍💙
First, thank you to each and every one of you who reached out, wrote condolences, sent cards, and shared pictures and memories of our beloved Riley. Yes, it always made me cry, but Riley is worth all of the tears and all of your sentiments have definitely helped comfort our hearts as we adjust to life without him. ❤️🩹
Life has been so busy that I haven’t shown since the beginning of April. That was Ripplee’s 🌊first time in the ring and not only did he take Best of Winners for the crossover points each day, he also won Best Bred-by and a BOBOH over specials! 🎉🎉
July took me to three different shows that I’d never been to before but will definitely go to again! It was so much fun to connect with other Clumber owners at wonderful show grounds.
Phoebe 🐦⬛, Micki 💫and I went to Ferndale. Micki just went to do her first FastCat runs, and Phoebe finished her Championship!💜🎉
Then, Ripplee 🌊 and Micki 💫 and I headed to Coos Bay because that has had majors in the past couple years and it did not disappoint this year!
Micki 💫was entered three of the four days as her first time in the ring as a Special and she was Best of Opposite all three days, earned three 5 point Grand Championship majors, three Champion defeats, an Owner-Handled BOB and Group 4. 🎉🎉🎉
Rippleee 🌊won BOW three of the four days (one day he was a sad panda in the ring) and got his majors! 🎉🎉🎉Thank you to Anthony Cantor for your expert handling of Ripplee and for, literally, letting me cry on your shoulder ❤️
Last weekend Ripplee headed to Sequim, where he again took BOW each day, along with a BOBOH over specials and an OHG3, and finished his Championship! 🎉🎉🎉. Thank you to Darcie Cantor and Kayla Loren for handling him the second day and picking up that extra major! Rip also got to try FastCat and he LOVES it!! His times have him ranked as the fifth fastest Clumber in the Nation! 🏁
One of the things I’ve always felt about showing is that the most meaningful wins come when you’re competing against quality dogs from different breeding programs. Those weekends tell you something. They challenge your breeding program, your evaluation of your dogs, and the decisions you’ve made over many years. Seeing and meeting dogs outside my breeding program, and who the judges point to, helps me to see where I am and the direction to go. It’s also why I congratulate the winners across the county. Competition, at its best, makes all of us better breeders.
I don’t produce a lot of litters, but I try to make critical and informed decisions to produce high quality dogs, and I’m proud when judges recognize that in the ring. I’m even more proud of my dogs when they leave the show ring —they are happy, confident Clumbers who are good citizens that people enjoy living with. That’s the good stuff! 💗
Congratulations to everyone who was out showing in July! I applaud all of the winners and their breeders for their commitment to this wonderful breed. 💙
