Illahe Vineyards

Illahe Vineyards 🍇 Growers since 1983. Family owned, sustainably farmed and located in the heart of Willamette Valley’s newest AVA - Mt. Pisgah, Polk County
(222)

We are open for the summer, Thursday - Sunday, from 11-5. Enjoy a flight of limited estate releases or a glass of wine with stunning views of the Willamette Valley. We have snacks available for purchase and picnics are welcome. Our tasting fee is $20/person waived with a $100 wine purchase. Free for our Club members. At Illahe, our goal is to make wine as naturally as possible from the soil to the

bottle. This requires working by hand on small lots with age-old techniques and materials. Our focus is to make and grow quality pinot noir and white wines that express the vintage and their varietal characteristics. We don't use enzymes or additives, and we don't fine or filter our pinot noir. Some of our lots are made entirely by hand with no electricity or mechanization. We use a gentle wooden basket press, and age our pinot noir in French and Oregon oak. Of course, quality wine starts with quality fruit in the vineyard. Our 80-acre, south-facing vineyard lives in shallow clay soils. Like our friends in the Deep Roots Coalition, we do not irrigate mature plants. As one of Oregon’s few horse-powered vineyards, we utilize a team of Percheron drafts to mow and deliver grapes to the winery at harvest.

Illahe Vineyards is turning 20 this year! 🎉🍷

In 1983, Lowell and Pauline Ford planted their first vines, carrying on a family legacy of grape growing that stretches back to the 1890s. Lowell's son Brad joined in 2004, and in 2006, the first Illahe Vineyards wine was bottled. Today, Brad and Bethany run the winery together, farming across three generations.

Save the date! 🗓️✨

On July 25th, we're hosting a 20th-anniversary winemaker's dinner with the Cozy Taberna on our patio. Brad, Nathan and Lowell will be there to share selected library wines to pair with the courses. 🍽️🥂

On August 1st, we're hosting a 20th-anniversary paella party right here at the winery with special library pours from Brad and Lowell. 🍷🎉

There will be wine, there will be stories, and we cannot wait to celebrate with you!

More details and tickets coming soon.

Growing our vineyard means growing the vines first. 🌿

Grafting joins two plants into one: American rootstock, well-suited to our soils, pressures, and conditions, is fused with the grapevine used to make the wine.

Ten thousand vines, hand-grafted on site, will be planted as a new seven-acre block. 🍇

The 2025 Estate Grüner Veltliner is here! 🍾

Our Grüner has the best origin story. Lowell Ford received the original cuttings through a tasting group at Chemeketa, brought over from Austria in a suitcase. They eventually made their way to our estate, and we've been growing them here ever since.

The 2025 is the best vintage yet with notes of lemon zest, star fruit, Bartlett pear, and white pepper on the finish. The perfect wine for where we are right now, that in-between stretch of warm spring days before summer settles in.

We're pairing this wine with a spring coq au vin blanc recipe from Alivia, our newest tasting room team member. Grüner Veltliner is one of the few wines that pairs beautifully with asparagus. Link in bio to shop and get the recipe.

Our Estate Vineyard rows are full of wildflowers right now, part of our diverse cover crops. 🌸

Restoring native flora attracts pollinators, increases insect activity, and helps restore biodiversity to the land. Cover crops throughout the vineyard work toward that same goal, building soil health and supporting a thriving ecosystem.

Bee boxes in our Pauline Estate Vineyard, tended by Coffman Farms, turn those wildflowers into honey. 🐝
