In part two of our Ultrafiltration (UF) system walkthrough with Hunter, we take a closer look at the UF module portion of the system where a lot of the heavy filtering takes place.

Ultrafiltration systems use specialized membrane filtration to remove suspended solids, bacteria, and other contaminants from water sources, making them an important part of many water treatment applications.

Inside the UF modules, water passes through membranes designed to separate unwanted particles from the water stream before it moves further through the treatment process. This step helps protect downstream equipment, maintain system efficiency, and support long-term reliability and performance.

Hunter walks us through a two-part Ultrafiltration (UF) system we are currently building for a municipal application! Ultrafiltration systems use specialized membrane filtration to remove suspended solids, bacteria, and other contaminants from water sources. They can be used as a standalone treatment process or as pretreatment for reverse osmosis systems.

UF systems are especially useful when a water source contains a high amount of suspended solids because they help protect downstream equipment and prevent RO membranes from clogging. By removing fine particles before the water reaches the RO system, ultrafiltration helps improve efficiency, reduce maintenance, and extend the life of the system overall!

They are building out the logic that controls how the system runs day to day, from pump operation to pressure control and system responses. Getting this right is what keeps everything running smoothly and protects the system once it is out in the field!

Connor, Director of Quality Control at MCI, walks us through a 7-skid MCI WET RO system currently in production!

This system is designed as a fully integrated solution, featuring two reverse osmosis units, a CIP system, three ultra-filtration systems for initial filtration, and a feed skid that supports the entire process flow.

Built to treat brackish water, this system will produce approximately one million gallons of clean drinking water per day and is headed to support a golf course municipal development!

A closer look at the control side 🔧

Control panels are the brain of an RO system, giving operators full visibility into pressures, flows, and system conditions, with the ability to fine-tune operation and respond to changes in real time.

Each one is designed around the specific RO system it’s supporting, so everything from startup to operation is built to perform reliably day in and day out.

A look at some UF systems in progress 💧

Ultrafiltration helps clean up the water before it even reaches the RO system, removing solids and contaminants that can cause wear over time. It’s a simple step that makes a big difference in performance and longevity.

This setup includes 3 UF units and 2 full RO systems for a municipal application. More on this project to come!

Mainor walks us through a system we’re currently working on in Jamaica for a unique power solutions provider.

We designed a cooling loop system that integrates water treatment, with monitoring built in throughout the entire process. Operators can track system performance remotely in real time and catch early warning signs before they become bigger issues. 💧
