Beautiful day along Dority Creek as we work on transitioning equipment around the farm. We're done with hay, chopping corn, and hauling turkey manure (which we use as fertilizer) so this weekend was spent cleaning up equipment we're done with for the year and prepping equipment we'll need for harvesting in the coming weeks.

We also recently finished up a land stewardship project in conjunction with our local NRCS (Natural Resources and Conservation Service) office. We applied for and received some matching funds to install an above-ground fuel containment tanks. With these, if any of our fuel storage tanks sprung a leak or didn't get properly shut off, the fuel would discharge into the holding tanks rather than on the ground, avoiding a potential soil or groundwater contamination issue. Just one more way we keep land and water stewardship top-of-mind.

After today's news of the Queen of England's passing, a little anecdote about some other English "queens" she had the privilege of interacting with.

Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, recently passed away at the age of 96. The late queen, who was well-known for her soft spot for animals, had a herd of 200 registered Jersey cows.
