Our earliest maturing rice variety is about ready to harvest!… Since this is my first post about it, I’ll explain. This year we did a small trial with 10 varieties of rice to test the potential for this unusual crop in the northern US. In case you didn’t know, rice can be planted as a field crop not just in flooded paddies!

A little experiment. We’re growing out a small amount of purple hulless barley for seed this year. It’s super high in protein, fiber, and antioxidants.

I really like the proptek 231 deep trays for lettuce. I think the longer plug helps them establish a better, deeper root system.
