Ever seen a piggy mug shot?! ๐Ÿท

I got to see the new Faulkner County Animal Shelter this morning when I went to bust my Boris out of jail!

Seriously, we woke up Sunday morning to him having escaped. Drove and walked neighborhoods and pasture looking for any sign of him all day Sunday. Nothing.

Monday morning I had a friend call to ask if we knew about a commotion in her dad's back yard Saturday night/Sunday morning which lead us to a call for assistance with a pig found walking down Hwy 65.

Yep. Boris hit the highway on an adventure. It took 5 men to get him in the trailer.

The folks at the shelter were awesome! They had him set up with food, water, shaded and a kiddie pool. They were "fighting" over who got to care for him - its not every day they get to care for a big, cute, floppy-eared hog!

Seriously, my mind went to the worst places about him potentially showing his stubborn side and being hurt or mistreated...but everyone was so kind. Staff and volunteers came out to ensure I got him loaded without issue - which we did. The guy said, "he likes you more than me." ๐Ÿคฃ Well, I've been loving on him for a couple years.

If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity or a place to donate, go by and meet the folks there in Springhill. They are providing our community a great service.

These girls are literally the only critters that don't "test" the fences around here, which means the *not hot* wire is keeping them contained while they mow the front yard. Win-win.

Watching them behind that fence today I had a thought.

Those horses weigh 750+ lbs each. And that fence is a relatively small rope on some plastic posts. Hardly a secure barrier for such a large being, right? They touched it once when it was hot and they didn't like it...it hurt. They didn't realize the hurt would only last a brief second, but they were uncomfortable, so now they stay obediently behind that wire.

I'm grateful they were that easy to train. That I don't have to worry about them constantly trying to escape our property.

But what about me?

Am I staying behind some temporary, weak, silly barrier because I am afraid to challenge it? Because I'm afraid of a little "jolt" that might cause a quick moment of discomfort?

What about you? Are you wanting to do something but fear the moment of TEMPORARY discomfort?

Let me know if you want some encouragement or prayer - or both - to help you challenge your fence.

Week three brings us to Ava.

Ava is a registered hereford sow. She is still super skittish (and won't pose for a photo) but she will eventually come around. I am determined that she is going to enjoy a good back scratch one day!

In the meantime, she does know I'm the one who brings the food!๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคฃ

For the second I introduce, Lena. Don't tell the others but she may be my favorite.

Lena is a managlitsa+kune cross from what I have been told, but I dont really care about that. She is nosy and bossy and really annoying, but she loves attention, and to be pet...and she is a great Mom and grows really good babies!

I love her piglets that are born with the "mangalitsa stripes." They lose them pretty quick, but are super cute!
