Another great Maple season is in the books for Green Cove Sugar Works. We tapped more trees than ever and was rewarded with a record breaking yield of 100 gallons! We are thankful for this and can’t wait to share it with you all. We are excited that, after being locked out of this account for unknown reasons, we have finally been able to access it again to bring you maple content! This a question that we are often asked and this infographic does an excellent job of breaking this process down. One thing to add, is that the natural vacuum system that our trees are on enables us to take advantage of more sap flows than we would otherwise. On days where the temperature would not change enough to naturally create a flow, our vacuum system effects the pressure enough to begin a sap run we would otherwise have missed out on.

We are making again tonight. We hauled in just under 1000 gallons of sap that has been processed through our reverse osmosis and is now being made into syrup.

Things have been full steam ahead here in Green Cove as the Maple season has come upon us. With a new addition to the family of our eventual next sugar maker, we have been busy making our syrup and welcoming this new life into the world. We have made close to 30 gallons of Virginia Maple Syrup so far this season. Stay tuned for additional information and for our pricing. - Seth

Hello everyone, we hope that you all have had a great summer and are enjoying this beautiful fall! We have been busy over the past few months with cattle, putting up hay, and making molasses. We are now changing gears to prepare ourselves for the upcoming season. We look forward to providing you with Virginia Maple Syrup this winter!

We at GCMW hope that everyone has been making the best of this winter! It has been busy for us preparing for the upcoming season, but the fruit of our efforts will be worth it. In December we were blessed to be able to attend the Kentucky Virginia Maple Syrup School in Whitesburg, KY where we had a great time eating, learning, and networking with likeminded people. We also have recently purchased a reverse osmosis machine, a filter press, an oil burner, and two more stainless steel tanks. All of this is done to provide you, our valued customers, with a greater quality and quantity of our products. This coming week will also be a busy one for us in the sugar bush and the sugar house as we repair lines, begin to tap, and get the sugar house setup. This was the main reason behind our selling out so soon, other than eager customers that is. We appreciate all of your business for the 2017 season! Stay tuned to our page as we will be continuing to purchase more equipment-- this will allow us to produce even more syrup, continuing renovations on our sugar shack, and undertaking many other endeavors that I'm sure you all will be interested in.

Sugar maple trees require very cold weather to produce high-quality sap. That's harder to come by when spring arrives weeks ahead of normal.
