I'm not sure why I cannot regain control of the Facebook accounts Royal Amethyst Acres and Royal Amethyst Acres Friends and Family as the admin since my last account was hacked and banned, but the new personal account was made and I still have no control over these pages as admin. It posts as my personal profile instead of the business/farming profile, unless sharing from Instagram to the business page. Hang with me while I continue to fight with Meta about this nonsense. Otherwise, I will try to delete these FB pages and start new ones.

Homemade Powdered/Confectioners Sugar. With baking season in full swing and orders to be completed, I ran out of one of the most important ingredients for decorating my cookies; powdered sugar. I could have just hopped in the car and drove to town to buy more bags of it, right? The answer is no.

The problem is, we received a nasty winter storm yesterday (Saturday) and received over 3 inches of snow, and while that's not the biggest issue, and neither is the fact that we have negative temperatures outside, but the roads are still partially covered with snow AND ice. The powdered sugar is not worth the cost of anything that could happen to me or the vehicle, so I had to figure it out. Like literally everything else in my life, I had to pivot and figure out how to make what I needed with what I had.

I was discouraged but decided that this wasn't always available commercially, anyway, so how did they make it then? Enter the internet. I had heard a long time ago that you could make it at home and it will cost you basically nothing because you should already have sugar and corn starch on hand for cooking and baking. I looked up the ratios, got out the blender, and voilà! Powdered sugar!

I now have another direction to go with producing content, so be watching all of my socials and YouTube channel.

Happy Baking!!

Meet "Doughlene", my sourdough starter. Yes, you guessed it, I'm venturing into my sourdough and all the cooking and baking era for the winter. She's bubbly and tart-smelling, and she's absolutely perfect!

This is day 3 and 4. Today (day 4) I reduced it by half and took 3/4 of a cup of starter out! My recipe calls for a full cup of starter, so I'll be trying to make my first loaf maybe even tomorrow or Friday morning!

If this works out the way I'm planning and hoping, I'll be offering loaves of fresh sourdough bread for sale with all of my other baked goods!

Wish me luck!!

STAY TUNED!!! I'm venturing into selling all the fun yummies for the holidays and thought I'd get my kitchen legs back by starting with some banana-flavored caramel corn.

I'm definitely going to be adjusting the recipes I use for better coverage and better flavor, whether caramel or other flavored popcorn, for those special holiday moments, parties, or even movie nights.

I'll be working on other things to make and bake, so stay tuned for those pictures, as I'm currently working on a catalog/availability of items, packaging, and pricing. Ordering opens on December 1, 2025, and closes on December 15th, with local delivery by December 20th for Solstice and December 23rd for Christmas.

If you would like to plan for a New Year's 2026 party, I'll take those orders up until December 22nd with delivery on December 30th.

You may choose to pick up your order, or my delivery fee is $20 for up to 50 miles, and I will not ship. There are too many variables and I will not be responsible for problems that arise with shipping. Other arrangements can be discussed at the time of ordering.

Hello, My Lovelies! The girls desperately need a new Henitentiary ASAP, and we need your help! I have an opportunity to get this smaller, red, and amazing new coop for the winter, and this other beautiful, larger, shed that would be converted into a much bigger coop this spring to be the centerpiece of the enclosed aviary with gardens. These are currently on sale and will save a ton of money (and my hubby's sanity, let's be real, here), and it's an immediate need, as I've lost 6 chickens from my flock due to predators.

The goal is to raise a total of $20,000 for the complete build that is planned, so we will be doing fundraising campaigns with chicken and homesteading-related merchandise, wearables, crafts, and art that my awesome artist hubby and I are designing. This is pivotal for the growth of our homestead. Please make sure you're following on all of our social platforms (IG, FB, YouTube, and TikTok, and you can follow and purchase items from my Etsy store soon!

I'll be posting the building plans and have items available very soon with all of the links to purchase. If you would like to just donate to help our girls, dm me and I can send you links for Venmo, CashApp, or PayPal.

Blessings!!

🥚✨First Egg Frenzy!✨🥚

My baby girls are growing up! These are the very first eggs from two of my 4-month-old chicks, and I couldn't be more egg-cited! 😍🐔

💚 On the left: a lovely green egg from one of my mystery Olive Eggers. Still not sure of her exact breed, but she’s clearly a beauty with style.

🤎 On the right: a richly bloomed brown egg from one of my fluffy Partridge Cochins. That heavy bloom? It’s a natural protective coating that keeps bacteria out and freshness in—nature’s own Tupperware! 🧼🍳

Every egg is a surprise when you raise your own flock, and these little gems made my day. 🥰
Keep laying, ladies—you’re doing amazing!

🌿 First Taste of Freedom 🌸

Our 8-week-old Silkie babies had their very first adventure on the grass today, and my heart just about burst! 🥹💕

Watching them explore the big, green world with fluffy little feet and curious peeps was pure joy. They pecked, scratched, and fluffed like pros—even with the big chickens watching from the sidelines like proud (and slightly nosy) neighbors. 🐣🐓

It’s little moments like this that make homesteading so magical. Here's to new beginnings, soft feathers, and tiny hearts full of wonder. 💫🐥

Wait. Whaaaaaaat? You mean I'm not public enemy number 1 and the only person to know that the commercial farming practices, CAFOS, and nasty chemicals that are being sprayed on the fields have contaminated our water, air, and our meat and grain products? Thought all of that was due to me being a conspiracy theorist and hating the farmers.....

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. The most outrageous and unbelievable "theories" are usually the correct ones.

I identify as a conspiracy theorist and my pronouns are Told/You/So

Blessed Ostara )O( Happy Spring 🌼

Obligatory Chick Pic to help symbolize the new cycle of life for this year. We've been resting, wrestling with our inner monologue, & planning out our next 3 seasons of life. It's time to start putting them into action, on this first day of spring. What have you planned for growth? Food, animals, personal health?

I try not to get too personal on this account, as this is technically about homesteading, but this is important, as it will have a large effect on my abilities going forward. I may have to shut things down sooner, rather than later.

My goals for my physical health have been changed; not because I chose them, but because of others' opinions & frankly, greed. Long story short, I now have an appt with pain mgmt, which I have to travel 6.5 hours for (I know, made sense to me, also), instead of revamping a major spinal surgical plan (which has been necessary since my first one, at age 11). My mental health is taking a big hit & it's affecting personal relationships.

Also, I have done Spring cleaning on IG. If you have followed & unfollowed this account just to have another follower, you've been deleted. I have standards, & if being fake & not authentic is your personality, then I'm out. I'm intentional in actions & words, honest, trustworthy, & helpful; almost to a fault. But IDGAF about your aspirations to be famous. We all want recognition.

In just over a week I've lost 7 chickens to predators and had an injury resulting in death from a predator. This is why I don't free range my chickens. I was given 10 new chicks and they are in my house, in their brooder, but I've lost one of them for whatever reason, so I'm down to 9 chicks.
I'm at a loss, because I've literally done everything I can afford to do, to keep my chickens safe, and I'm always trying to find extra money and materials to do what needs to be done to ensure their safety, health, and happiness. I am beyond pi**ed!
I have a plan for a new coop and enclosed yard for them, but I cannot afford it right now because I'm looking down the barrel of a major back surgery, that is going to render me incapacitated for a year at the very least. I want to try to get this project funded and finished before that date.
I'm going to be designing some homesteading/farming t-shirts and bags, doing some epoxied tumblers, sewing reusable tote bags out of feed bags, and a bunch of other stuff, that I will be selling to hopefully raise the funds for implementing this plan. Stay tuned.

Sunset yesterday, February 27, 2025. This was a peaceful and happy moment, and I should have relished it more, because this has been a horrible week.

On Tuesday, we found that an aerial predator (hawk) had taken one of my silver-laced Wyandottes. Wednesday, I had to rush out and shut them in because 4 hawks were circling the chicken yard. It was quiet yesterday, and I shut them in right at that sunset when I gathered the eggs

It was a very different story and scene, this morning. We found that a raccoon had broken into the coop (it seriously had been able to somehow move the latch up to get inside), stirred up the sleeping chickens and killed Scraggles, one of my white crested black Polish chickens, where my husband had to peel her out from the fence where the raccoon had tried to pull her through.

We then discovered that there were white feathers and more silver-laced Wyandotte feathers spread all over the chicken yard. I assume that the same hawk that took the first Wyandotte, was able to bring its friends back and took another Wyandotte and Rob, my white Jersey Giant rooster (and that is absolutely surprising that a hawk could pick him up because he was twice the size and 3 times the weight of even a large, full grown hawk.

I'm just devastated.
Monday, I'm ordering enough of the spikes to surround the perimeter of the chicken yard fence and the coop, and all kinds of shiny things to hang around. I'm done. It's war!

My birthday was this past Wednesday, and we got to celebrate last night, as a family. My husband, kids, and grandkids are truly the best! We didn't take any pictures of our family time because we were loving in the moment, but here are a few.

My favorite cut of meat is Prime Rib. It is the best! We went to a casino buffet, where for $25.99, you could eat the whole slab of meat if you wanted to, and I did manage to eat my salad first, but then ate a huge piece of Prime Rib, some Asian cuisine, ice cream and dessert. It took me so long to do because of my esophageal and digestive issues, but I ate so much and felt like a stuffed tick!

They got me the books I've been eyeballing for the last few years, and they came in a 5-pack! I was blessed with beautiful and delicious bundt cakes that my future daughter-in-law made sure I got, and they were amazing, to say the least.

Got to love up on my kids, bonus kids, and grandkids, then rounded out the night with snuggles and movie-watching with my Moonpie; something I don't get to do very often.

As you could probably imagine, the word mo********er was coming out of my mouth at a decibel that the whole county probably heard. This is why I'm getting rid of my glass baking dishes. This baking dish literally exploded when I moved the rack out to test the temperature of my chicken. Guess it's just rice for dinner tonight...
Now to disassemble my oven to remove the remaining pieces and shards of glass.
