I had a bountiful tulsi harvest last season that I would love to share with you! This blend consists of Amrita and Vana tulsi varieties.

If you haven't had a cup of tulsi tea, you're in for a delightfully aromatic, warm, mildly spicy drink.

I'm tinkering with facial products and made a face mask I'm pretty excited about!

I mixed goldenseal leaf powder with bentonite clay. To make the mask, mix with the tulsi infused ACV until the clay has formed a paste. This tulsi ACV smells heavenly. 😇

These are saved for my mom, aunt, and myself for testing. I'm excited to try it out!

As I look out the window and see everything covered in snow, I anxiously await springtime. It's my favorite time of year.

This is a picture from the Big Branch Trail close to Sandstone Falls in Hinton, WV. The spring wildflowers along this trail are stunning. Definitely one of my new favorite trails.

Are you a winter lover? Are you not-so-patiently waiting for springtime too?

You can't get through winter without downing some shots.
Shots of fire cider! I made this batch with some local cayenne peppers, onions, and garlic, then some sliced, fresh ginger. mmmmm. This one's a good one.
Did y'all hear about the big fire cider throwdown that happened in the last several years? A company wanted to trademark the name "fire cider" meaning all of the kitchen herbalists making and selling their own versions would be within copyright infringement. Well, the herbalist community fought back and won the case! Fire cider is open to the commons!
You can make your own with whatever you have around, just think of things with heat or a warming feeling when you eat it. Some typical fire cider ingredients are garlic, ginger, onions, hot peppers, horseradish root, cinnamon, and clove. A quick internet search will give you hundreds of variations.
I decided to keep this jar for family use. Tyler and I both love this stuff and I've already put him on a "fire cider 3x a day" regimen last month when he came down with the crud.
If you want to make your own and have questions - give me a shout!

Herbal Bitters are amazing and I could talk about bitters all day long.

Bitter taste in plants was developed as a defense mechanism to deter animals from eating them. Animals learned to develop a bodily response to bitter tastes. "It's poison! Move it as quickly through the body as possible! Get that gut fired up!"

Our taste receptors, to this day, still register bitterness as poison (even if the plants are absolutely harmless) and triggers your digestive system to move through the process more quickly. More digestive juices...moving things more quickly to the next stage in digestion...we gotta get that bad stuff out!

This is especially useful when you're feeling a sluggish gut. Other countries will use digestive bitters before and after meals to aid digestion and ward of an upset stomach. Americans, however, barely eat anything that is bitter. Think about it. When's the last time you ate something that was naturally bitter?

The Root of the Issue tea and Catnip tincture are both wonderful digestive bitters. You should try it out!

You can really taste the hyssop and bee balm in this tincture. 🥰 Its a nice reminder of summer.

The Breathe Easy blend is made with anise hyssop, bee balm, oregano, and plantain. These plants are all wonderful defenders against upper respiratory ailments we commonly fight during the winter months.
