Well I thought they were being dramatic about a flash flood warning but water came down the “crick” and washed up over the culvert overnight. I didn’t get any pictures of the flooding but I have the aftermath.

In the summer months, this crick can go down to a trickle!

Of course this is brand new fencing and 3 posts down in the divider section - but it held up pretty well (thank you Johnsville Fencing) considering how much debris is weighing it down!

I’ve waited all week to post about our eventful weekend. In less than 12 hours last Sunday we had 4 calves born to finish off our calving season. We had 8 calves in 10 days!! Shout out to Clem the Bull for getting it done.

So we had 4 calves… to 3 moms!

Ella had her second set of twins (2 bull calves) Sunday afternoon and Dee had a bull calf about an hour after. Hayley named him Lucas.

Hope rounded out the group Sunday evening with a heifer calf in that crappy weather. Cody named her Samoa (his favorite GS cookie) to follow along with his dessert theme names.

I’m happy to report that so far, all calves are doing well. Dee and Ella have switched ownership but my thoughts are as long as everyone is being fed, I will not interfere until the first sign of neglect.

Hayley needs your help. She is struggling on what to name the twin bull calves!! Please comment some ideas and I’ll let her pick from the list!

We triple checked the undercarriage on this calf and determined it is a bull calf. So Hayley will call this one Henry! 🐮😆🐮

We got a closer look at calf #3… formerly known as Henry. Turns out she’s a heifer calf, and Cody renamed her Brownie.

Calf #3 is a bull calf named Henry. He arrived early this morning and Diamond made sure everyone knew about it.

Calf #2 arrived last night and despite having access a nice warm, dry barn… Mom had her in the mud. A couple set backs in the 18 hrs she’s been on the ground but hopefully she will behave moving forward.

Cody named her Cookie, but I have a few other choice words to name her.

First calf to Momma Betsy - a little bull calf named Lincoln- Linc for short, since it’s Abraham Lincoln’s birthday.

We’ve been working on a little remodel the last 5 or so years of the bank barn- started inside back in 2020 and chipped away at the list of improvements. There’s still plenty more to do, but this weekend was a turning point in the vision.

Automatic waterers in the barn is something I’ve thought about every day for the last 13+ years living on a farm 😂😅 (usually as I stand there with a hose or all the times I carried water buckets).

With the help of some very kind friends the vision became a reality.
