Elmwood Inn Fine Teas

Elmwood Inn Fine Teas Experience gourmet teas, books, teapots and tea wares from around the world online or in Danville, KY We like to call it "a cup of serenity."

Elmwood Inn Fine Teas and Benjamin Press sprang from the success of the Elmwood Inn Tea Room in Perryville Kentucky. Over its 14 years of existence, Elmwood Inn developed an international reputation as one of America's favorite locations for a traditional afternoon tea. After serving thousands of guests, the tea room closed on July 31, 2004 in order for us to grow our expanding wholesale tea and p

ublishing businesses, now located in Danville, Kentucky. Being educators, we have always felt the need to share our tea talents with willing students. Since 2000, over 350 aspiring tea entrepreneurs from across Canada and the United States have attended Elmwood's TEA 101. These seminars, along with our tea books, continue to inspire tea professionals everywhere. Elmwood Inn is committed to spreading the good news of tea to a thirsty world. As we know, Britainโ€™s love of tea has inspired countless โ€œtea things.โ€ However, residents of colonial Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Charleston shared a similar passion for fine furniture, silver, and porcelain devoted to their own tea rituals. Tomorrow, Thursday, February 27th join us for a special tea-themed edition of ArtsThursdays!

In an illustrated talk, author and tea historian Bruce Richardson will explore the revolutionary era in the U.S. through the lens of one of its most defining symbols and flashpoints: tea. Free and open to the public.

During the evening, visitors can sample historic teas, purchase Richardsonโ€™s book, A Social History of Tea (and have it signed), enter a raffle, and explore the exhibits, including Resetting the Table at the Peabody Museum. We are looking forward to having a cup with you!

How Do I Make Matcha?

I have enjoyed Matcha across Japan in myriad ways. Iโ€™ve knelt on tatami mats in two-hundred-year-old tea huts in Unji while slurping whisked tea made by robed tea masters who continue the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. Iโ€™ve drunk hot or cold cans of Matcha from vending machines in Tokyo. And, on hot days, Iโ€™ve licked Matcha ice cream dispensed into cones from soft-serve machines in Kyoto....
