A final farewell from the Murphy Family of DSR Farms.

The past 6 years have taught us so many important lessons and brought us so close to so many wonderful people. Although things didn’t workout like we often dreamed they would we have found comfort knowing we created so many memories and delicious meals for each and every one of you.
We have recently finalized out transition from self employed/ small business owning, to a wonderful new professional career with fantastic opportunities in our future.
Part of this process was finding other small farms to take over where we left off. Providing Naturally Raised, Great Tasting, Nutrient Dense foods to our community that strengthens the local economy and regenerates the environment in its production.

➡️ Johnson Family Farms will be taking over the page, emails, and website. So be watching out for the page name to change over! We hope that you will be welcoming to them as you all were to us. Stay tuned as I'm sure they will post an introduction and keep you up to date on the farm life they have!

We need your help! We launched our products into River Run and Dunnavant Valley Piggly Wiggly's. We need to show them that Birmingham supports local and wants to see more of this. If you support our farm and are able to buy from these locations, please do. The next few weeks are critical as they evaluate whether to expand or not. Gathering eggs

It's our last week having animals on the farm🤞

It's been bittersweet going through this whole process. We didn't just close down a business we closed a chapter in our lives that we had truly believed would last forever.

I asked Dallas last night how she felt now that it's coming to an end. She said she was happy but still kinda sad. This is all she has known for as far back as she can remember.

Most everyone says we will miss it. Most people who say that have no clue what we have endured over the years. How hard times were.

We STILL have meat even after marking it down to ridiculous unsustainable low prices which makes me realize how hard times this year and the coming months will be on the farms that are staying in trying to do this as a full time career.

We will be delivering tomorrow and then I will have a farm sale on Sunday, August 1st from 10am to 3pm. This is the last chance to get meat from us. As I want you to continue supporting our farm friends who are fighting to stay in business.

A couple of updates-

1️⃣We are still delivering this week. We are really hoping to make this our LAST week. $100 minimum orders.

2️⃣We are running low on some items, but we still have plenty of Rasher Bacon, beef link sausages, and chicken leg quarters. All of which are marked down!

3️⃣The farm store is closed to walk-ins. It is open for preorder farm pickups and appointments only (appointments will be hard to come by because all 3 girls are doing different sports and teams this fall, so I'll be at the ball field most nights) You can order from the website and choose farm pick up I will have it packed and ready by the next day.

So much has changed in just over a month since we announced we were going out of business. Most of the animals are gone and the rest are spoken for. The freezers are getting low and a few things have started to sell out. Last week I began a new career and next week we will start the process to sell our home. We've officially quit going to the farmers markets and have focused on moving the rest of our inventory via our website (and farm store by appointment).
Today we marked almost everything down to 50% off.
We we are still keeping close watch on inventory so we don't "over sell" anything so we appreciate your patience. Our goal is to empty all the freezer and get them sold in the next 10 days so we can finish up closing this chapter of our life and move on.

We have some of our awesome chicken tractors available for sale. These are all steel construction 10'x20' square tubing base and welded cattle panels. They are easy to move and can be pulled with atv or tractor.
55 gal water tank, drinker cups and feeders included. These can also be outfitted with nest boxes for laying hens.
$1000 each.
The 10x30 is $1300

Jesse is almost back with our last load of chicken. We plan on making more boxes with chicken breast and our other remaining items later tonight. We are still delivering Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays.

We put 6 bulk boxes on the website. We are trying to mix them up based in what is most popular and what we have available. The pork and beef that we are selling this week will be the last we ever have!!
If you have any questions or if you would like a custom box put together just let us know. We also added 5- 25lb boxes if breakfast sausage for those that have asked to purchase it in bulk. Pictured is some or our beautiful Cottage Bacon (from the Boston Butt) that will be headed into some boxes tomorrow!!!

A little emotional this morning.
More than six years of passionately working to build a more sustainable local food system has came down to this.
The last load that we will ever have to pick up.
Most of these items will be sold in bulk boxes this week as we finish selling the rest of our inventory. Stay tuned for more announcements and details this afternoon.

We really appreciate everyone being so patient and understanding. You guys have made this very difficult time much more manageable.
Our inventory is getting to a manageable level and the current plan is to hard count everything again Tuesday as we pickup the last meats from the processor.
This means everything we have available will be listed on our website and we can finish selling completely out.
We love you all and we are truly humbled by all the love and support we have received.

Just a quick update:
We are headed home with all we could haul of the most beautiful meats we've ever had.
It will take longer than it ever has to get home with all this luck but eventually we will get there.
