We started the 2026 show season strong at the Spring Dairy Expo showmanship contest last night! Brantley and Kayden have been working hard to prepare and it definitely paid off. Brantley won his heat of junior showmanship and placed 9th overall! Kayden only decided a month ago to come and did a great job preparing her heifer in that time. Looking forward to tonight’s show!

We had a great day with the classifier yesterday! It’s always both enlightening and satisfying to have an outside perspective on your herd. We scored 18 head of 3 breeds, with the lowest two GP-83 in their first lactation! Highlights:

NAILE looked a little different for us this year, with 3 cows in 2 strings, but we are proud of a respectable showing in one of the largest Guernsey shows in Louisville in some time. All thee cows are owned with ElmHurst Jerseys & Guernseys. Thank you to Valley Gem Farm and Rocky Hill Farm for incredible care and preparation of the girls this week! Thanks to Kate Alden and Cheyenne Anders for holding down the fort while Robin was in Louisville and Noel in Chicago. We arrived safely at home last night just in time for the snow ❄️

Selling Friday at the Autumn Opportunity Sale is one of our golden girls - a 2nd lactation Reputation projected to a solid record on pasture (no silage). Her first record was on the 130% List published by AGA. She is A2A2 by parentage and is halter broke, having been a 4-H project for several years. She’s pictured here last year as part of our winning Exhibitor’s Herd at the Ohio State Fair, and she hasn’t aged a bit this time. On service to sexed semen and ready to add milk to the tank! 🌿 Aldens L Olive - 5th Fall Calf (born November)
🌿 Aldens L Antheia - 7th Fall Calf
Thistle is a Comanche x Rovin Hlpt Tn Lucious EXP ET Ex92 (AKA Spike 🦏). Olive and Antheia are Liam daughters of full sisters to Thistle. Thistle had a third Liam heifer in April and is due back to Riley next March. We love our growing Shortie herd!
