Sale day tomorrow!

We had an awesome show day with some awesome people. If you haven’t looked at the sheep being offered in the Great Lakes Region Dorper sale, you may want too.

We were lucky enough to be selected as the class winner in the February ewe lamb class as well as the winner of the January Ram lamb class. We offer our best sheep in this sale every year and this year there are some genetics being offered up that probably shouldn’t leave!

Great Lakes Regional Dorper Sale Consignments

We’ve had a busy start to the spring, but we finally got our sale entries cleaned up and sheared off! We were excited about these two before and even more without their baby fuzz!

Sired by the legendary Riverwood Farms 5150 and maternal sibs to the reserve champion ewe at Louisville last year! We had a couple straws left and figured we use it on our best ewes! The more we watch this grow, we probably should be keeping him but our loss is your gain! He may be the most intriguing young ram we have offered to date. You won’t want to miss him!

Morgan’s pick of the spring ewe lambs! It took a lot for us to offer this one, but only a couple ewes lambed in January this year(yielding 1 ewe lamb) so we dug into our later ewe lambs to find one for the sale. This gal is as fancy as they come and she’s already getting stouter everyday. Skinny and green aside, this one is flat good.

Lazy 5 “Tarheel” x Darlington Dorpers 2226 (Ryan Dorpers B1721 Daughter)

We utilized this guy for the entire spring lambing group and he did not disappoint. If you’re worried about color, don’t be. The only color he threw was on the hooves of one lamb. The lambs have awesome front end extension, muscle shape, and foot size.

I’m a little behind on pictures, but check this pair out that is heading to the Great Lakes Regional Dorper sale this weekend in Ohio. Both are sired by Ryan Dorpers B1721. I have built my flock around him in the recent years and he himself was reserve champion ram at the Springfield All-American in 2021 I believe it was.

One that is from the heart of my program in the recent years and I may regret selling him but here’s your opportunity to tap into my best genetics and get a true stud ram. He has not shortage of power and muscle and yet was still the best profiling ram prospect I had. He has a masculine head and the confidance of a stud ram!

The big opportunity I had previously mentioned was a chance to own the ram that has made a tremendous impact on my program and whom I have built a herd a females around. Ryan B1721 bred by Ryan Dorpers in Illinois is a special ram. I had planned to offer him publically on my page, but I was approached and had the chance to sell him prior to posting. Thank you to the Nelson family in West Virginia for purchasing this guy and I know he’ll do just as good of a job for you as he did me!

Be on the look out for the last two lambs I’ll sell sired by him that will be heading to the Great Lakes Regional Dorper Sale next weekend in Ohio!

Make sure everyone is checking in here for updates on sale sheep this spring! I will only be consigning to the Great Lakes Region Dorper sale in Ohio this year as I had very few ewe lambs born between the fall and spring. I will be consigning a January ewe lamb and buck lamb for sure. I may potentially have a fall ewe lamb as well.

Spring lambing has concluded! Although we were not blessed with many ewe lambs this year, we have plenty of high quality buck lambs that could use a new flock! Commercial or show quality alike, there is a little something for everyone in this bunch. Also, this is the first lamb crop out of our new stud "Tarheel" (Lazy 5 Ranch). “Tar Heel”

I’ve kept him a secret long enough! Lazy 5 5361 found his way into WI from North Carolina.

Sire is the same ram that produced the 2023 and 2022 All American champion ewes, 2022 champion open show ewe at Louisville and 2022 Houston champion ram.

Dam is a Hijo B206 daughter and double bred Juke.

Tar Heel is unique in his ability to be such a long sided, good profiling sheep and yet still has exception muscle shape from all angles. Study this guy from behind and he’s a big topped, big ribbed sheep who is huge in his upper hip. He’s the kind I like to walk out and see in my pastures at home.

I purchased him a little too late to run with a big group, but he did see a couple ewes and fall ewe lambs that will lamb in Feb/March.

A little late on this customer appreciation post for the summer, but what an awesome job this family has done with ewe this summer. A few banners have came along the way, but there’s definitely been all kinds of smiles between this girl and her Dorper ewe. Beyond happy with where this ewe went and how she’s being treated and shown.
