Two big milestones for 17 Acres this week! 🥚❤️

It’s been an unforgettable week for our family. We welcomed our beautiful baby girl on July 15, and after being away from the farm since the 14th, we’re finally back home.

Waiting for us was another milestone we’ve been looking forward to our official labels for our licensed washed eggs have arrived!

This has been months in the making, and we’re excited to begin offering our licensed, washed premium free-range eggs in our new branded cartons. We’ll still continue offering our unwashed farm-fresh eggs for those who prefer them, but now our customers have both options.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our family and our farm. Your encouragement has helped us grow every step of the way.

Rich golden yolks are one of the many reasons we love raising our birds the way we do. Healthy hens, quality feed from Kalmbach, and plenty of time outdoors make all the difference.

No, they’re not fighting they’re treating themselves to a good old fashioned dirt bath! 🐔💨

Dust bathing is one of the most natural behaviors chickens have. It helps keep their feathers clean, removes excess oils, and can help control external parasites. A happy flock is a healthy flock, and nothing says “free range” like watching them enjoy their own backyard spa day.

At 17 Acres, our hens spend their days doing what chickens were made to do free ranging, scratching, foraging, and yes… throwing dirt everywhere. 😄

🐥 The biggest concern today… the 100° heat or my pregnant cat? 😅

The chicks are 4 days old and doing great, but with these South Carolina temperatures, everyone is getting a little extra attention. Thankfully, we’ve got plenty of shade, fresh water, and lots of checking in throughout the day.

🍉🌞 It was another 100° day here at 17 Acres, so the flock got a cold watermelon treat to help beat the South Carolina heat.

One thing that never changes is what’s in their feeders. Our birds are raised on Kalmbach Feeds, and it’s been a big part of our program from chicks all the way to our laying hens. Consistency matters, and we’re proud to feed a brand we trust every single day.

Watching a healthy flock free-range, scratch, forage, and then run over for a watermelon snack… it doesn’t get much better than this.

Thanks for being part of the journey as we continue growing 17 Acres—one bird at a time. 🐔🌿

🌞🍉 With temperatures pushing 100° today, the flock got a well-deserved treat—fresh watermelon!
Watermelon isn’t just one of their favorite snacks; it’s also a great way to help them stay hydrated during these scorching South Carolina summer days.
There’s nothing better than watching a flock do what chickens were meant to do. 🌿🐔 Every morning they head out to scratch, forage, chase bugs, dust bathe, and enjoy the freedom of 17 Acres. While the adults roam the pasture, our younger birds stay safely in their own coop until they’re big enough to join the flock.
Healthy birds. Happy birds. Better eggs.
